Like the other books from the "Emil" series, Emils escapades are keeping my 7 year old interested and amused. My son has ADHD and easily identifies with Emil, and being in trouble despite best intentions. He loves the fact that the book makes it clear that despite this, Emil grows up to be 'president of the local council'.The book holds his attention for a good 30 min at a time, and has been read several times over. A success!

These Astrid Lindgren (author of Pippi Longstockings)books are great. However while it is nice that they can be purchased as paperbacks the paper does feel a bit cheap. And the real sad thing is the illustrations, why replace the wonderful original illustrations with these new ones. Emil is about a boy in the Swedish country side (Småland) from the beginning of the 20th Century and the original "paintings" felt much more authenic. Why reinvent the reel?....
