Looks better than I thought!
Ordered the purple transparent shell, and looked up how to swap the shells. Was as difficult as I thought it would be, but this product was as close to a mirror of the factory Switch shell as you could get. Came in a neat package packed with void fill paper to protect it from any tossing during shipping. Also comes with a little polishing towelette for the screen which was a nice touch. Fit my Switch perfectly. I'd like to note that the texture and finish isn't the same as the factory shells, as it's glossy and smooth compared to the rougher matte factory shell. I didn't mind since I have a GameCube controller with this same glossy finish, so to me it felt great. Fun project and a nice rush of nostalgia whenever I pick up my Switch. Would definitely recommend.Side note: took me a while to work up the dexterity to pull this off, and even then it took me around 2.5 hours to do. Set aside a chunk of your day and TAKE YOUR TIME. There's barely any displacement in the JoyCons to work with in the first place, so it's best to take your time and get it right the first time. If you rush, you may end up making an expensive mistake.

Right joy con housing defective
They look very cool but the right joy con housing never fit right and would not close all the way, the customer service was good and sent me another one but it still didn’t fix the problem. I put the original Nintendo housing on top of the back portion of this housing and it fit like a glove, so it was obviously something wrong with the way they manufacture the top piece

Very nice.
Perfect fit and finish. Plus everything still works. I had to watch the JerryRigEverything video just to make sure where the little screws went. Not too difficult of an install. Nice atomic purple color shell and it matches my atomic purple Pro Controller now.

Thread from screws can snap off the shell whenever.
This product it a pretty alright and comfortable feeling type of shell but i was disappointed cause not everything was cut out right to fit the console and joy con, I couldn’t use the front piece of the shell on my right joy con because it was cut out right for it to fit the I was forced to use my old front but overall it’s a pretty alright case I know there’s better out there tho.

PSA/BAD UNIT CHECK. WATCH for PAINTED LETTERS on the BUTTONS!!!!
UPDATE:So the first Teal set came in and worked great. Second set in Atomic Purple were poorly made and nearly screwed up the joycons completely (read original review below for details). Another Atomic Purple set was ordered. On this third mod, A VERY IMPORTANT DETAIL WAS NOTED!!!!3 joycon shells. 2 worked great. The third almost trashed the joycons because they were such poor quality. The 2 that WORKED GREAT had CUT LETTERS in the buttons of the RIGHT joycon. The 1 that was JUNK had PAINTED labeling!Pay attention fellow gamers because I would bet SERIOUS money on the fact that the PAINTED BUTTONS all came from the SAME FACTORY and that factory SCREWED UP ALL UNITS THEY MANUFACTURED. Whether this was because they were from a first production run or whatever doesn't matter DO NOT TRUST ANY SET OF SHELLS WITH PAINTED LETTERS!Check those mountings, put it all together all the way, ensure those buttons are actually dropping all the way through holes and it all comes together and lines up properly before you go to open the joycons you're going to mod.Or, better yet, if you open the box and see painted buttons for the right joycon, send that sucker back and request a replacement. It's up to you but the two mods that went perfectly came with the labeling cut into the button and the one that was total crap were painted.Naturally, if anyone else has similar issues with painted button cases and/or had no problems with the cut labeled button casings, shout it out in the reviews so we can confirm or deny whether or not it's a particular run or factory source for these shell casings that is the problem and our fellow gamers can move forward on their own mods with confidence.(BTW, yeah, I knocked off a star for those bad units that might still be floating around. The ones that had cut lettering came together like a dream though and look great. Being realistic, I can't dock it all the way down to 1 star just because, with small production runs ordered by small companies like these, most of the time, it's really hard for the company to find out or know that they sourced their manufacturing from a crap factory right away- if at all. I mean, they've only got a small group of niche customers who may or may not post anything useable in the reviews. So, my review is as much to Basstop as it is to my fellow gamers so that they'll be able to hopefully recall those faulty units.)Mod shell casings are an awesome idea and Basstop has some really good ones but WATCH OUT for that BAD PRODUCTION RUN!!!Thanks.ORIGINAL REVIEW: The casing looks gorgeous but you have to be prepared- THERE IS A 50/50 CHANCE YOU WILL GET A PIECE OF JUNK!!!!I purchased the teal for my husband and everything went great. In fact it was good enough that I decided to help my niece mod out hers with the purple when she asked.Everything was fine with the back case but the joycons were an utter disaster due to the fact that half the mounting holes for the outer case weren't drilled all the way.Naturally, because of the size of the screw in question- and my idioticly trusting nature, it proved impossible to notice when and where the hole stopped before 2 of the screws in question stripped and lodged halfway in. (Murphy's law dictated that it was a single screw on each joy con, of course.)I had to actually use a dremel to cut the things out of both cases for the joycons in order to rescue the parts. This was beyond disappointing. I mean, the teal was beautifully made and came together like a dream so what the heck happened to make the purple so horrifically screwed up?Sadly, the niece still has her heart set on the purple so at this point I can only hope that it was just a bad unit. I would return them but, obviously, since I had to actually cut them open with my dremel in order to get the parts so I could at least give her some working joy cons in their original cases. Thank god they still work.Well, as mentioned, since she has her heart set on the atomic purple, I have ordered another set. If the set that arrives actually works I will adjust my review then. As it stands though, to my eyes, we have a 50% chance of this working so I feel it necessary to warn everyone to CHECK OUT EVERYTHING INCLUDING ALL THE MOUNTS before even beginning because you really are flipping a coin with these guys.

Defective
Been working on one controller for over an hour. Been trying to figure out why the controller wasn't clicking in correctly. I had taken it apart and put it back together over 3-4 times, Only to find out that the plastic on the inside of the controller doesn't align with the sliding mechanism. Not allowing me to close it correctly. The actual item isn't built correctly in order for it to close properly. Wasted my time doing one controller only to find out it wasn't gonna work out anyways.

It's Just Like the 90s Again
Case looks good. Has that real 90s vibe when EVERYTHING electronic was clear cased. Fit quality is great. Easy to install as long as your careful and have the right tools. YouTube channel "Jerry Rig Everything" has a great how-to video on case install.

A perfect fit.
Installed this over the course of a few hours (I made some mistakes along the way and had to restart some steps) but in the end it was worth it. The purple looks even nicer than the original translucent N64 controller I still have. It's more colorful and less cloudy, allowing you to see all of the cool bits inside the joycon while playing.
