A refined, subtle incense.
Not as smoky and crude as most incense. The sticks are very thin but produce plenty of aroma so a box is going to go a long way. These are short sticks which burn about 30 minutes and leave a light fragrance behind. I use a stick for meditation. I have been using good quality Japanese incense but this is much more refined.

Comfy
This is a great incense choice to add to the scent vault. I have many different types of incense for different occasions and what I most use this for is relaxation. It's got a nice comfy scent if you know what I mean, and lingers for quite a bit after burning. This was my first experience with this incense and company and I'm quite impressed. Cant wait to try out their other offerings.

Subtle but relaxing scent. Nearly smokeless
Enjoyed the scent, the lack of smoke plumes; and the packaging was elegant. The initial smell was a little off putting, because I was expecting a pronounced agarwood aroma but it’s more like a clove scent with hints of agarwood & sandalwood. It’s enjoyable once you acclimate to it but if you’re wanting pure agarwood this ain’t the one.My only major complaint is that you can’t use these in traditional incense holders because these will melt into the incense holders and make them unusable- or they’ll fall straight to the floor creating burn damages.I’m not sure what type of holder these require. Maybe something similar to what is used for incense cones?

(almost) smokeless incense that's fairly unique
I don't usually write reviews of products for Amazon. In fact, this is my third time writing one since I started with Amazon Prime in 2010. I am a loyal HEM customer if only because of the types I like & their price & have been for a very long time. But they don't have an Oud style / scent (at least not on Amazon at the time) & I was looking for an incense that was. By accident I came across this particular type of Japanese incense & almost on a whim decided to give it a try. It is probably one of the most curious incense types I've ever come across. The fact that it has very little to zero smoke is an added bonus for people who probably don't like having to deal with eye irritation. The down side is that the box & package insert is completely in Japanese, but so what. This is a top shelf product & to me, it's worth the price.

Maybe I don't get it. Too subtle of a scent.
Maybe I don't get it but they don't really have a scent or it's just too subtle compared to other products. Not sure if it's this way by design because of the other positive reviews so I won't shun them as a horrible product. Doesn't work for me personally and wouldn't buy again.

Beautiful scent with very minimal smoke
I like to use scent incenses, but do not like the strong after burned smell. Agarwood and sandal wood are my favorite. I am glad to find Gyokushodo Japanese Agarwood Incense Sticks Jinko Denpu - Less Smoke Type.

Nice scent but not true to agarwood at all.
If you are expecting a true agarwood or oud scent, this is not worth buying. In fact I would say it is misnamed and even maybe false advertising after a fashion. On the other hand it's a pleasant but soft scent. True agarwood though is more musky, lingering and has a very much stronger spicy scent depending on where it was harvested.I can see why the scent is soft and very weak, agarwood is fast becoming, well, extinct in the wild. Prices have become astronomical so the manufacturers use it very sparingly. This product if it has any real agarwood or oil at all is so diluted to be unrecognizable especially with the other ingredients the manufacturer cuts it with. With that even in mind, it is not even remotely like true agarwood.Personally, I would rather spend much more for a better quality product and the associated much better scent. I'm not going to throw it out but will not buy it for its not an agarwood scent.

Great smell
Though I was hesitant when I received the product, it is the best and most intense smell to agarwood from the commercial brands I’ve tried so far.I’m very pleased with the smell though it is quite pricey compared to the others. It is well packed and all the sticks were in mint condition.
