Pleating and material are very forgiving if you're self conscious about your midsection. A little long but overall great find.

This is a lovely forgiving, modest but still youthful dress. (This opinion is by a mid-50's mom.) It is a proper dress, without cut outs or the possibility of a wardrobe malfunction--where you can actually have fun and not pull it up and down all night like all the Bachelorettes do constantly. I think it works for any age, if you are ok with your arms. There is stretch in the velvet, which still looks expensive. (You know how stretch velvet can look cheap? This does not look cheap.) I ordered it for my daughter in an 8 and 10. It was too large in both sizes. She's is 5'6" and generally an 8. This would be a great dress on the right person in the right size. Pretty color--again, needs to be the right person. The one thing that stopped us for considering another size is that the neckline is probably better if you are not larger (D+) on top. The cowl is better for an average to smaller top imo, but again, try it. It is a tiny drape, so it might work on a larger bust, depending on how it falls on your particular body. Try it.
