Excellent! I use scissors to cut it into small flakes and add it to soup and eggs and I even tried chewing it. Quite good with no fishy taste, but it did mildly taste like seaweed, go figure. I found the taste to be excellent. I found no shells or sand in the bag. By the way these were strips of seaweed not flakes. Perhaps the other types of seaweed the company sells comes in flakes. I haven't tried them yet. The bag came sealed with no holes or leakage. I paid for this, it is my opinion there was no compensation.

I used to buy this at Whole Foods, but can't find it there anymore, so I finally broke down and bought it on Amazon (at a higher cost). This came directly from the company and was actually soft and pliable not dried leather-ish (like all the other kelp I've bought)! I've never gotten kelp so fresh and tho it was a bit costly, I'm very happy with the texture, taste and super fast delivery. Kelp is a natural way to add salt and minerals, and my homemade soups are better than ever! Thanks Maine Coast SV for a wonderful organic product!

The kelp comes in thin husk-like little rolled sheets, about the size of a small napkin. They have some light salt on them, perhaps naturally occurring, maybe not, I can't tell. I soak mine in water for a few minutes before I attempt to blend them in a shake. It softens the kelp for blending, and gets rid of the salt. However, the salt tastes great on it if you are using it in a soup! This is the way kelp should be for eating, with the first best thing being fresh from the water. But this is wonderful stuff. I used ground shipping, and it took over a week to get here. I didn't feel like paying the extra rush shipping. So, by that standard it did arrive on time. I recommend using this in green shakes (1 sheet, or even a half will do). It is very tasty, and easy to use right out of the bag. It also keeps very well in my pantry for weeks, even a couple months! I plan to rebuy from here.

I am trying to avoid any foods produced in Japan. I get this is a good choice but will really know if I was right at my death bed. I usually put it when I am making beans to get the minerals.

I bought this because it's not available in any stores in my area. Andrea Beaman who is a Thyroid Expert suggested adding this to my diet. I add it to beans, soups...pretty much anything I'm cooking a few times each week. It must pick up the flavors of the foods its cooking with because I never even notice it's there. I am however now concerned about the warning on the bag even though we live in Texas. Is California the only state worried about cancer? Bought this to make dashi for my first attempt at homemade ramen. I didn’t know what to expect but figured it would be kind of like nori — a dry, crunchy, perfectly rectangular sheet. Out of the bag came this singular beautiful, soft, fragrant leaf. It feels like a delicate silk. I made the dashi and I credit this kelp for giving it a rich umami flavor that made mouthwatering ramen. Incredible.

I got this to make bath salts. It came very soft and not terribly stinky. I dried them and another sea weed for ten minutes or so in the oven, ground them up and added to the salt and essential oils. Looks and smells almost like what I ordered online but for much less! I grew up swimming in the ocean and believe it is why my skin was so amazing. But, after years living away from the ocean, it was not so amazing. I’m hoping to get the naturally beautiful skin back.

Every one needs kelp! Kelp helps to break down meat protein making meat; like mince, more digestible and softer to eat. Plus it gives you your daily dose of iodine, which your body needs for thyroid health, breast and testes development ect ect. I AM NOT A DOCTOR. A little goes a long way.
