⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Premium quality grit, perfect for drainage and top dressing!
This is exactly what I was looking for to upgrade my potting mixes. If you grow plants that absolutely despise sitting in soggy soil, this horticultural grit is an absolute must-have. The quality is outstanding. It is beautifully graded, perfectly sized, and crucially, it comes remarkably clean with barely any of that annoying fine dust or sludge you often get at the bottom of the bag. It is also completely lime-free, so you don't have to worry about it messing with the pH levels of your prized specimen plants. I’ve been mixing it into my compost for some large, heavy container plants to drastically improve long-term drainage and aeration, and it works brilliantly. It opens up the soil perfectly, allowing water to drain right through the bottom holes so the roots can breathe and stay healthy. It also has a lovely weight to it, which adds great stability to top-heavy pots. On top of that, it makes a fantastic, neat top dressing for the surface of the pots, which not only looks incredibly professional but also helps suppress weeds and keeps the base of the stems from getting waterlogged. A top-tier product for anyone serious about their gardening!

Great quality grit that also looks great!
I used this to cover my houseplants soil after seeing a tip on a gardening page. The tip was right! I haven’t had nearly as many little black flies in the house this summer, because the soil was covered. I know it’s only grit but it’s very aesthetically pleasing on my plants. Drainage is quick when I water and it looks and feels quality. My plants have not been adversely affected by using it, and you think you’d use loads but you definitely don’t. I’ve hardly touched the bag, so it will last years and is great value for money.

Great for drainage and water retention for bonsai trees, but quiet expensive
Sadly the size to price ratio is poor as the price is expensive. Having said that I use it for my expensive bonsai trees as my main soil formula and it is amazing for root growth. I add 20% molar clay ( diatomic earth pink cat litter ) with it just to spread the overall amount to make the grit go further. I find bigger results in root growth compered to Akadama, which compacts after time, and is similar to lava rock in it's water/air retention. My advice is give it a go on one of your bonsai trees and you will see a difference in root growth with your normal fertilizer routine. I wish I could have afforded more because now as a pensioner I have to count the pennies. The fact I trust it on my few bonsai trees which I have been growing for over 50 years, says how much trust I have in this product, hence the five star. There is a large bonsai community out there and hopefully people reading this review will be encouraged to try it and possible bring down the price.

It's feels like volcanic rock.
Excellent product. Although the bag was smaller than I expected, once opened and held I knew this horticultural clay grit would be of great benefit to some of my water sensitive desert plants and cacti. It's consistency is exactly the same as volcanic rock even though its fired clay. I'll see how my Adenium seedlings adapt to this stuff being used as a drainage medium in the soil. Would buy again definitely.
