Cool concept, but disappointing sound with no bass and lots of distortion.
I currently have this set up in my bedroom paired with a small tv to use as a soundbar and to get the other features in the bedroom as well, but the weak point for me is the sound. I'm not sure if it's a power issue or if the speakers are just that bad, but the sound is uneven and weighted more towards the high end. Sounds cheap and tinny. No low end, bass or warmth to the sound at all and if you turn it up so you can hear it farther than maybe the length of a bedroom, you start getting a lot of distortion. So out of all the things this can do, all are tied into sound output and there's not one thing this can do that relies on those speakers and the audio output that doesn't disappoint. I do think it's neat that they can repurpose car stereos like this, but it comes off like someone got a bulk lot of stereos at an auction and then just slapped them in a budget home build for max profit margin. I don't recommend it at its current sound quality.

Looks awesome and sound okay.
Really cool retro sound system. I owned a VW that had this stereo in it! Sound is okay. A little harsh on the highs. Mid are there but get overwhelmed by the highs. Bass is there.......very subtle (may depend on the music you are listening to). Build quality seem stout. Bluetooth took a little hard to figure out but I finally figured it out. The look of this system is where this product shines. Oh and it has FM/AM with an old school telescopic antenna (who listens to FM/AM anymore). Will look nice in a bookcase. It's growing on me.

Cool idea, just not done well at all
Sounds cool to take a car head unit and put it in a box for home use. This system, however, performs poorly. The tuner is very weak, even with the antenna fully extended. Reception isn't good and any weaker channels just won't even be present. Sound quality is very poor. The speakers in this unit are unable to handle any bass at all and sound dull. Bass heavy music sounds like the speakers are about to blow, with distortion crackling and rattling. This does support Bluetooth and while it's a bit of a chore to get paired up to your phone, it is possible. So overall, this might be an interesting project for the DIY person who could take this apart and put in some better speakers. As it is out of the box, this is a cool idea that wasn't done well. For the price, this is something I wouldn't recommend.
