The Science of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (Macmillan Science)

Don't get to hung up on the title. The HGtotheG is only referred to in introducing each topic. This is an interesting and thoroughly absorbing book on 'big science'; once you start you'll want to read it all the way through. Highly recommended. (I picked my copy up in the library almost by accident - I wasn't a big fan of the HGtotheG - and was glad I did.)

The price of this book could lead a normal person to suppose they will receive something rather more than this. Suffice to say, I was surprised and dismayed when it arrived, because what you actually get is no more than a fairly thin paperback, of the sort you'd pay about four quid for on here. No doubt it's a perfectly good book (I shan't be reading it, it's a present for someone), but I am left feeling seriously ripped-off by the extortionate price-tag.

This was like discovering an extra, long-lost Douglas Adams book. It has the same blend of weird science, spot-on humour and philosophy that made the Hitchhikers series such a hit, without being a straight copy or a pastiche. It's also first-rate as a stand-alone popular science book, with something surprising in every chapter no matter how much you think you already know. A superb read.

This was a gift for my Son. He loves anything and everything about Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Again the packaging was good, they exceeded my expectations on the shipping. And the price was right!

My boyfriend is an avid fan of Douglas Adams, and he was so thrilled to get this book for Christmas. Any fan of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books will enjoy this.

Written with the wit and good humor of his Douglas Adams' series, it's hard to put down and would be a good companion on any trip through the galaxy.

I love this book, I only wish that it won't be that short!If you want a funny, but very in-depth discussion on some of the deepest physical topics, this is the one for you
