The SPEC PLUS Ontario knives are not just tools, but trusted companions for those who need a fixed blade that won't let them down. Each knife in this series is a perfect fusion of form and function, with blades made from high-quality 1075 carbon steel, known for its toughness and ease of sharpening. The full flat taper grind with a swedge ensures an excellent balance between sharpness and strength, making it ideal for tasks ranging from bushcraft to survival situations. A plain edge type keeps maintenance simple and straightforward, ensuring your blade is always ready when you need it. For those who carry their gear daily, the fixed blade edc knife with its sturdy blade thickness of 0.188-inches offers a reassuring presence without the bulk. The blade's black powder coat is not only aesthetically striking but also serves a practical purpose, minimizing reflection and providing corrosion resistance. The molded plastic handle is both durable and comfortable, reducing hand fatigue during extended use, and the included nylon sheath affords protection to the blade and easy, secure carry—especially with its MOLLE compatibility, which is perfect for attaching to gear or a belt. Weighing just over a pound, this full tang knife is deceptively lightweight given its robust build. This is attributed to the intelligent design that balances a 7.0-inch blade length with an overall length of 12.1 inches, giving it substantial reach while maintaining control and precision. This makes it not just a formidable hunting knife with sheath, but also a combat knife ready for anything from trenches to trails. Also is the sheath good quality?** A: The sp1 is absolutely worth the money. 1095 steel, 3/16 thick blade. Sometimes you can even get it for around 25. The sheath is ok . not the best but not the worst either. **Q: Will the sheath belt loop fit a 2.25 width standard us military pistol belt?** A: I don’t have a belt to test fit, but it looks like it would be a tight fit. I measured the opening with a micrometer and it is 2.3”. Hope this helps. **Q: How long is the blade and what carbon steel does this use** A: Ontario is making these from 1075 Carbon Steel that is heat-treated to 57-59 HRC (Rockwell hardness). 1075 is less prone to "plate-stacking" resulting in the edge chipping than 1095. You'll appreciate this when it comes to hard use. The 1075 Carbon Steel holds up better and will sharpen quickly. **Q: how long is the blade?** A: 7 inches --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/57151804-ontario-knife-company-8679-sp-1-combat-knife-with-black](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/57151804-ontario-knife-company-8679-sp-1-combat-knife-with-black) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-10*
