Excellent EDC for Price.
Stumbled across this product while searching for a new budget EDC. I like nice knives but have a hard time justifying some of the higher prices for something i am going to be beating on every day and will most likely leave at a job site. Anyway, the color combo, blade shape & modest price point drew me towards this knife so i figured i would give it a try. Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised how much this knife offered for the price. Out of the box the D2 steel was adequately sharp, blade was well centered, flipper action is very good to excellent (dont expect ball bearing quality) and the overall ergonomics and feel of the FRN scales was fine (no hot spots in my "medium/large" size hands). About 10 minutes of sharpening on a whet stone & a small amount of oil and this knife functions well above its pay grade and is comparable to some of my more expensive knives in functionality. The knife is a little on the lighter side which in my opinion is nice while it rides in your pocket. The pocket clip has a nice tight fit, no worries of this thing falling out by accident. I have used the knife for a couple weeks now (cutting boxes, tubing, string & Halloween pumpkin carving) and the edge on this D2 steel has held up just fine. Even though this is the "china" version of the Steel Will products it is still a excellent knife for the $. I would love to buy the Italian model of in the future!! Overall, this is a perfect budget EDC for it's good quality at a nice price point. THANK YOU Steel Will... Well done!.

Wow. This knife is a steal for the money.
I am a knife collector and love all knifes I have $400.00 knifes and $10.00 knifes and you usually get what you pay for but this Is my first Steel Will knife and I have to say I think for the money this is hands down the best value and best knife you are going to find on the market for $42.00 The fit and finish is frigging awesome it came sharp out of the box the Action is great a little still but I just got it and know it will loosen up nicely after a few days of break in. The blade centering is spot on the jimping on the flipper and thumb rest is really nice and the grips handles are really comfortable the Orange back spacer looks cool and is really functional if you drop it in the water or mud it will be easy to find and it’s D2 which isn’t the best but it is a really really good steel I love D2 it’s not M390 or S35VN but it’s on the high end of budget steels and is a great EDC steel. So bottom line this is the best under $50.00 knife is bought and I have a few Civivi knifes under $50.00 which are great but this is every bit as good if not better. If your on the fence about getting this one pull the trigger it’s super nice and you get way more than a $42.00 knife. If this knife was $100.00 I wouldn’t be mad. Very very well made. I have over 100 knifes and this is my first Steel Will But certainly not my last. Well don’t Steel Will. 5 starts all the way round.

Great budget EDC knife
Smooth operation, solid blade lockup, no discernible blade play. D2 blade is a sound performing tool steel. Stainless steel lined FRN scales make for a solid frame. Scale texture is great for gripping, but can be a little grabby when removing from your pocket. For about $40 you can’t go wrong with this knife.

Love this knife!
Absolutely love this knife, this will be my new EDC for a long time. Love the blade shape, works excellent for everyday tasks and even hard use. The blade comes very sharp right out of the box. Overall a very high quality, great looking knife with a great company behind it to provide excellent customer service if the need arises. Knife comes with a REAL lifetime warranty that is actually worth something. Looking forward to more quality releases from Steel Will in the future.

A new classic?
A well done, high value "goldielocks" knife. Because of this, if steel will stays around a long time and keeps producing this knife, it has the ingredients to join knives like kabar dozier, ontario rat, kershaw skyline and spyderco delica as a classic edc. It's better than any of the knives I listed and also it's sibling the cutjack (and I am a big fan of all these). It does everything just right, not too big or small, not too heavy yet sturdy feeling, good thin edge geometry and piercing tip yet not too delicate. If you have extra large hands it might be to small. Now for the knife geeks, the blade centering is perfect with no lock rock or stick, no blade play, lock up is about %40, it's got good detent- a little on the strong side, it rockets open by light switching it (push button doesn't work) and the flipper gimping is a tad rough but not bad, it's thick bronze washers give it a hydraulic smoothness but it doesn't fall shut (almost tho) and the lock bar is easy to access but the gimping on it is a tad rough but not bad, it's got recessed liners that are skeletonized, and the pocket clip is right on the edge of being too tight.

Great EDC for the price
I've seen a couple of previous reviews citing blade centering issues. Not sure if I just got lucky or if it's because my knife is of later production, but mine arrived perfectly centered. Action is amazingly good consider it's riding on bronze washers. It could possibly be improved by disassembly and a quick polish, wipe and lube, but not by much I suspect. Very sharp out of the box and considering that the blade is D2 it should hold a good working edge for quite a while, but it may also be a bear to sharpen when the time comes if you're not experienced at doing such things. Fit and finish are just a tiny bit rough-ish in certain spots, but not nearly as bad as I've seen on other knives of similar cost so I can't really bring myself to knock off any stars given what I paid for it. None of it really affects the great ergos (at least not in my hand) and the bill of materials alone used in this knife make it extremely competitive in it's price range. In summary this is an extremely satisfying follow up to the Cutjack, and if you like that knife you'll most likely love this one. Very interested to see what Steel Will comes up with in this category in the future. They're definitely one to watch.
