I love, love, LOVEEE b.tan. I discovered them during lockdown in 2020 when we were all chasing serotonin and a decent glow, and I’ve been loyal ever since. The scent, the color, the fact that I never end up orange or streaky… they’ve earned my trust. So when I saw they had a clear gel formula, curiosity won. Immediately. And yes, it delivered. Packaging (small detail, big win): Before we even get to the tan itself, I need to mention the pump clip. The bottle arrived with a little clip around the pump stem so it couldn’t be pressed during shipping. No leaks. No mystery tan explosions. I’ve kept the clip for travel because it’s genius. More brands need to do this. Gel consistency: This gel is the perfect middle ground. Not thick and sticky, not watery and messy. It spreads easily and evenly, especially with a tanning mitt, which I always recommend no matter the formula. It glides on smoothly and blends without effort. No panic blending, no racing the clock. No-rinse, no transfer: It goes on completely clear, which means no guide color, no stained sheets, and no awkward “don’t touch me” phase. It dries fairly quickly too. I was dry enough in about 10 minutes to throw on loose sweats and go about my evening. Dark, loose clothing is still your friend, but this formula is forgiving. Color & glow: This develops fast. Within 20–30 minutes, I could already see color starting to come through. By about 5–6 hours later, I had a deep, sun-kissed bronze that looked natural and even. No streaks. No orange tones. Just a rich glow that looks like you spent time outside instead of with a mitt in your bathroom. On top of all of this it leaves my skin feeling hydrated like I used a body lotion. Scent: This is one of the reasons I keep coming back to b.tan. There’s no classic self-tanner smell. It actually smells good, fresh and clean, and that stays true even as the tan develops. No “what is that smell?” moments. Product usage & value: What surprised me most is how little product I used compared to foam formulas. A little goes a long way. At $15 for a large bottle, the value is excellent, especially considering how dark and even the results are. Overall, this gel is everything I want in a self-tanner: easy, clear, fast-developing, great-smelling, and deeply bronzing without drama. Five stars, zero hesitation, and officially my new go-to in the b.tan lineup.

Did everything i wanted in less than two hours I have deep skin and I'm not fond of laying in the hot sun. I got this and it evened me out beautifully. Keep in mind that if your UNDERTONES are cool, it may not look as good. You may look orange-y. I bought Jergens tanning lotion with tanning drops too keep the tan color where I want it. Is the color "insanely dark"? Absolutely not. It just got me the color I needed to be even all over. The smell is nice. This is my first time using self tanner and I loved this option. No need to worry a lot about staining while it develops and no need to rinse off. I appreciate the product being wrapped up as well. Amazon has a terrible habit of "just ship it. I don't give af!" So, I KNOW I am the first person to use this product. In short, great product UNLESS your undertones are cool and your skin tone can't hide the orange it may give you. Don't say you weren't warned ❤️

I’ve tried quite a few self-tanners, and b.tan Gel extra Dark has become one of my favorites. The biggest surprise was that it doesn’t have the strong, unpleasant self-tanner smell that so many others do. It’s also gentle enough for my sensitive skin and has never caused irritation. I love that it applies just like a moisturizer, making it quick and easy to get an even application. Another huge plus is that it drys quickly and doesn’t transfer onto my bedding or clothes while it develops. For the deepest color, I do recommend applying multiple layers. I also suggest using a rubber glove during application to avoid stained hands. The final result is a dark, natural-looking tan that doesn’t look orange or streaky. Overall, this is an easy-to-use self-tanner that gives beautiful, natural results with very little mess. I would definitely recommend it, especially if you have sensitive skin.

This is it! I used to use the Neutrogena airbrush hand level three deep and they discontinued it so I bought everything out of the manufacturers warehouse, but that only lasted a year after that I was buying tanning drops tanning move trying everything everything kept getting discontinued. nothing lasted and then someone recommended this gel and I thought it was such a stupid idea, but I was at the end of my rope so I gave it a try and holy crap it actually works. Within a few hours you can go from Caster the ghost to some Brazilian Beachbody and it lasts a few days and it’s buildable and it’s brown not orange. Make sure that you put on lotion first and let your lotion dry and then put on this towel. If you try to mix them, they will not mix nicely and you will be extremely shrinking and it gets really dark with the streaks look crazy. I’m sharing a picture of my ankle where it goes from white to tan lol this stuff really works. I don’t put it on my feet because I sweat a lot into my gym shoes.

So… I bought the “glow your own way” in “darkest”. As soon as it came, immediately I read the back for timing instructions… there’s absolutely no mention of time to keep on. To be honest, that turned me off immediately especially for someone that may be new to self tanning, they would have had no idea. I had a little bit of an idea so I went with eight hours, wash off with warm water and apply moisturizer. Says “rinse free” but you have to rinse! The DHA in the tan gel that makes your color darken will only continue to develop over the next 24-30hrs AFTER YOU RINSE OFF! If you do not rinse for an extended period of time thinking the color will make you darker and darker until you look like JLO, the DHA can actually start to diminish, and your skin will begin to dry out being the tanner is now over process. I would not go over 12hrs AT THE MOST before finishing off. That being said, this also didn’t not say if I could rinse with warm water, warm water and soap, a full blown shower, and for someone new to this - they would have no idea. Not cool! Smell - the first pump into my hands was a mix of bad coconuts, tanner, and chemically nauseating but once it was on and dried it was much better. The “fake” tan smell wasn’t as strong as others I’ve used which I very much appreciated. I did my over night so I wasn’t too worried about the smell, if you do tan during the day, your self tanner odor will be noticed. Picture #2 - I did not apply to my hands. My hands are very dry from cleaning, doing dishes, being a mom and wife. The only thing they need is moisturizer so I opted to not apply on my old man hands. I’m coming up on hour eight and you can see the subtle difference between my wrist and my hand color. Hoping the DHA will develop more over the next day and the color will darken (I will let you know if I remember). I did NOT see a huge difference to my light olive complexion and that was disappointing. This gel in “darkest” should have been a great match for my skin tone. Overall the smell was low after applying, the get dried very quickly which was a HUGE bonus to me! At the end of the night, speedy is the best thing for me! The subtle color this gave me was not worth it, I am hoping it darkens up over the next 24hrs. Maybe I got a faulty solution in mine. If you’re a beginner, here’s your guide to timing and rinsing and I wouldn’t say not to try. The clear solution is beneficial and the quick drying was awesome. But if you’re looking for a deep, dark color, you’re not going get it from this which is a bummer. Hope this helped!

As someone new to self-tanning, the thought of a clear self-tanner was quite scary to me, but after seeing a lot about this product online I decided to give it a shot, and I am glad I did! These are photos of me with the tan and without; The last photo is how I looked when I woke up after having it on for 10 hours. Here are my final thoughts on the product alongside some tips! Non-Transfer Formula (5/5): One of the best qualities of this product is the excellent non-transfer formula, which deserves 5 stars. You can go about the rest of the day without stressing that your new tan will transfer to your clothing, furniture, or anything else you touch. If you're nervous about attracting attention to yourself while you're out and about, this clear gel is the perfect alternative to common tanning mousses with guide colors that might leave you looking like a giraffe. Comfortable Wear (5/5): Another huge plus is the comfort factor. Once this tanning gel dries, you won't feel like you've been ensnared in a sticky web. I've even dared to wear it outdoors without feeling like a bronzed oddball (which can happen with tinted tanning products). Sleeping in it is a breeze too; it won't transfer onto your sheets or clothing, allowing you to leave it on as long as you wish. Plus, it imparts a lovely, natural glow that's sure to turn heads. User-friendly (3/5): I must admit, this one took some time to get the hang of. It's marketed as an easy alternative to mousse, but its transparency makes it a bit trickier. Application Tips: So firstly, buy a tanning mitt, any tanning mitt! This is not a job for bare hands or latex gloves, trust me I have tried! I also apply hydrating moisturizer all over my body before application and wait around 10 minutes for it to soak in. On the areas that are tough, (elbows, knees, and ankles) I use heavier moisture. I personally use "EIGHT HOUR CREAM SKIN PROTECTANT" by Elizebeth Arden, and it has been a game changer. I use makeup brushes on my face, hands, and knees. So when I first started using this I did notice it not going well around my feet/ankles and hands, but that's because of poor application. My advice for those areas is to really really blend it around with a small makeup brush, and smooth it over with a mitt. For my hands, I try very hard to put it on carefully with a makeup brush, and then I use wet wipes on my palm to make sure it doesn't get there. Once I shower if I see some blotches on my hand, I use an exfoliating mitt to take it right off. One other good thing about this product is that it is easy to remove with an exfoliator. Double Glow Trick: If you want more of a guide, I mix L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze with this gel, around a ratio of 1:4. It creates such a nice glow together!

If you want quicker results, using it morning and night definitely deepens the color faster. Yes, a little bit of the tan fades with showering, but it’s so easy to reapply that it doesn’t bother me at all. Plus, it’s actually moisturizing, so it feels more like skincare than a typical self-tanner. Also, as someone with sensory sensitivities, I really appreciate that this isn’t sticky or heavy—it’s super comfortable to wear. That alone makes it a winner for me.

i don’t have many bad things to say because this is my first time trying out self tan, and i’m sure i did it wrong but it’s alright. after i realized i messed up i looked up how to use it correctly and not let it become streaky and a lot of ppl said that covering urself in lotion and letting it dry before applying the tanning gel works, so i should try that my 2nd time.. honestly everything else is pretty good other than the smell but i didnt know what to expect from a self tan so i think its normal, it smells like dirt or wet dog. but the color looks rlly good. i also didnt use any gloves or mitts so they might also be why it’s streaky and my hands were so orange. i just used nair hair removal and washed my hands with it and it got it right off so that’s a plus. also make sure u get EVERY crevice, my toes and fingers looked insane bc i didn’t rub it in between my toes. and it for sure doest’t rub off on any clothing or bedsheets. i had put it on maybe around 3pm yesterday then showered at 9pm the same night, and even tho i scrubbed myself with soap, it got tanner through the night, and i still smell like wet dog even after the shower unfortunately… but im doing a good job at covering it up with ariana grandes vanilla perfume 🙌🙌😭

New to self tanners. I wanted a safer, kinder to skin option, that didn't stain. This ticked all the boxes. Being naturally pale, I just wanted an improvement to my confidence. And an easy glow. Something that is more natural looking. The "Darkest" is perfect to achieve this. Despite having no guide color, I've found this product incredibly easy to use. I'd definitely recommend a tanning glove, back tanner applicator, and a tanning brush for face, hands and feet, for the most natural finish. Give the product at least six hours to develop before showing, etc. The skin is left feeling hydrated, and refreshed. Around the three hour mark, the color starts to develop. Limited "Tanning smell" during processing, nose close to detect the faintest smell. Otherwise, it's a pleasant fragrance. The color fades pretty evenly. If you shower every day, it's a twice weekly application. And it's easy to get used to applying. I definitely recommend. I am always very pleased with the results.
