I bought this drive for my grandson, and it has turned out to be great for both his PS5 and his PS4. I wanted to help him set it up on the PS5, but in his excitement, he beat me to it. He couldn’t get past the first screen after formatting the drive. (which caused a little confusion). Once I figured this out, the rest of the installation was incredibly easy. After that, everything worked exactly the way it should. He was able to install the PS4 himself. On the PS5, it gives him tons of extra space for his growing game library, and transferring games only takes a few minutes after the initial transfer. On his PS4, he says it’s even easier — plug it in and go. He loves having all his games organized in one place! This is a great upgrade to your PS5 but there seems to be a lot of confusion as to how it works. This is an external hard disk drive (HDD) as opposed to a more expensive, internal solid state drive (SDD). An HDD (like this one from Seagate) plugs into your PS5 with an included USB cable and allows you to store tons of games on it, but they can’t be played immediately. An SSD, on the other hand, requires installing inside your PS5 with the other components, but allows you to play games right away. A SSD is easier and faster to use, but costs considerably more per TB. For example, this Seagate 5TB HDD costs about the same as a 1TB SSD. A 5TB internal SSD will cost nearly triple what this one does. Some games take over an hour to install initially, but only ~10 minutes to transfer to your console so you can play them. So, with this Seagate HDD, you store your entire game library on it and then keep a handful of PS5 games stored directly on your console to play right away. Then, you can quickly move them back and forth between the Seagate drive and your console as you play different games. If you don’t need 5TB, or can afford a very expensive 5TB internal SSD, you should definitely get an SSD. But, if you have a lot of games and not a lot of money, this is a great option and 10 minutes to transfer a game isn’t that big of a deal in reality. So, this is a great option for people, such as myself, that aren’t willing to buy an expensive SSD with enough storage for all of their games. It’s also nice bc you can bring this external drive to use on a friends PS5 and quickly transfer the game to them, instead of waiting an hour for it to download or bringing your entire console with you. So, in summary, this Seagate HDD is cheap, has lots of memory, and requires about 10 minutes to move games around when you finish one and want to get other games ready to go. Whereas an internal SSD is expensive, has less memory, but allows all of your games to be played right away. In my experience, having 6 or 7 games on your console at a time and then these rest on an HDD to transfer quickly when you want to, is a fantastic and budget-friendly option. The drive itself is high quality, looks great, and pairs perfectly with the white PS5 console. I definitely recommend it!

Been shopping for quite some time for a solid external drive. Never give wrong with Seagate. Was super easy to use and connect with very little noise great compact design. Transfers and loads games super quick. The RGB lights on it really compliment my PS5's.

PS5 friendly! I store my games here then transfer them to the PS5 when I need them-doing this is faster than downloading and deleting when space is needed. It works fine!

Just installed. So far so good. Easy to hook up and install/format extended storage. You're unable to move screenshots and recordings to extended storage though and also unable to move games with main data saved to them which is a lot. But it's good for saving and having some extra space for games you don't have space for. Unfortunately you cannot play PS5 games directly from extended storage either you just have to copy them back to PlayStation to play. So I'm in the middle when it comes to if it's really worth the price or not. Easy connectivity and easy to use but missing important features on my opinion. Good quality. Sleek and compact/portable designm not noisy. Simple and functional. Lightweight. Overall recommend if you're in need of storage your PS is lacking.

This expansion pack is worth every penny. Took 10 seconds to setup on my PS5. Moving games to the storage took some time but once it was done, I suddenly had all my favorite games available to me without having to pick and choose. This was so worth the purchase.

I am satisfied with the functionality of the device. It was recognized by the PS5 instantly, and after formating it was ready to receive game data. What I don't like is that it has only 1.87 GB of available space. 123 GB for system functions is excessive for me. Also it's advertised to be a 3.2 USB connection, but the manual states that is a 3.0 USB. So even if the transfer speed is good, the price is higher than 3.0 devices. You can play PS4 games directly from the USB unit. I tried with the Evil Within 2 and the load times are exactly the same as in the PS5 storage and didn't find any graphic or sound issue. I'm satisifed with the purchase but those issues are something that can't be overlook.

Es una buena opción para almacenar juegos de Play Station 4 (que se pueden jugar directamente desde ahí sin necesidad de moverlos a la memoria interna de la consola) y juegos de Play Station 5 (sin la necesidad de descargarlos nuevamente, pero se tienen que mover al almacenamiento interno de la consola para poder jugarlo). El dispositivo llego en buenas condiciones tiene buen tamaño y forma, funciona correctamente y se instala fácilmente siguiendo el manual.

The design and compact size of this drive look beautiful next to the PS5. The fact that it is certified by PlayStation tells me it is reliable and for sure compatible. It is very easy to install. Just plug and transfer. However, the only known negative point is that you can’t play PS5 games straight from this external drive. I still love it and recommend it if you have a lot of previous gen games or don’t mind the transferring before playing.
