Handheld Tungsten Electrode Sharpener Grinder 12 Guides' TIG Welding Rotary Tool

Why didnt I get one years ago? This tool makes the same point every time and I just love it. Highly recommended. You TIG welds will improve with this tool.

This is a great product to have. Works great zero issues. Only con would be mine didn’t have holes for 1/8th tungsten. Fits 1/16 and 3/32.

Angle is wrong for correct arc control.

I’m new to “Tig” welding and a DIY hobbyist. I started with gas less mig welding and worked just ok without wind and dirty rebar but, needed a cleaner(less to no splatter) so opted for a “h” c25 cylinder and welds looks professional but, on very thin metal (ornamental repair or body panels) I still blew out holes(.025 wire) so needed more finesse with lower power and tig worked. Too a few passes to fine tune technique and now I know why you need a sharp tungsten tip. This works very well.

This tungsten sharpener is so much nicer to use for sharpening tungsten electrodes than a grinding wheel on my bench grinder. The diamond wheels work well for quickly sharpening the electrodes and the angle guide works great and gives you 2 different tip angle options. Much more precise and doing it by hand on the bench grinder! My only advice is to use it outside and with a respirator since the grinding wheel is not contained and you do not want to be inhaling tungsten dust into your lungs! Some electrode grinders fully enclose the grinding area for added safety which would've been nice to see on this unit.

This grinder does a good job on putting a proper tip on tungsten. A couple of the holes for the guide needed to be chased with a drill bit as I was having difficulty getting a well used rod in place. I took off one star for that. Other than that one issue it works great. The rotary tool itself works very well. It's quiet and has a nice speed control. It can be used with standard rotary attachments once you remove the grinder attachment so I see that as a big plus for the price. I would recommend this tool but do keep in mind you may need to re-bore some of the holes if you run into issues. Because the hole is already in place the bit will stay true when doing this operation. As a TIG welder you should be able to drill a hole so not really much of a con.

It's surprising to me how nice this grinder is compared to its competition. It has a little window cut out of the side of the head so I can easily see that the wheel is at the correct height. It also has a big access area so I can grab the chuck with a wrench without having to fiddle.It comes with a surprisingly large set of discs, so I can use this thing for quite a while before I need to buy any consumables. It even comes with a total of 3 disc holders (1 is installed) so I can have one set up for steel, one for stainless, and one for aluminum, so I don't have to worry about contamination.It's fairly quiet at a low speed. At a higher speed it's louder, but it's still not screechingly loud. I can easily run it without my ears hurting.It's a plug in model, so I don't have to worry about recharging it.It cuts quick, and leaves nice sharp points.Overall a great grinder.Highly recommended.

I like the dual purpose of this rotary tool and it works just like it should. It is a little bulky and a little heavy but so far has been drop resistant. It is very easy to use and to convert from the grinder attachment to standard rotary tool.
