Great Cameras
I've had these cameras for almost a year now and couldn't be happier with them. They're a great value and I honestly wasn't expecting much at this price point but they've exceeded my expectations. I have 3 of them set up throughout the house and they've never lost connectivity and have good crisp, detailed video both day and night. The range for the motion detection is very good too and the only false alarms I've had are from when the sun shines in through the blinds and bounces off the wall and the camera picks it up. This is not a bad thing as it's picking up the motion and I think any camera would do this. We've since moved into another house and resetting these were simple and they were up and running in no time. The only thing that would be nice is if you could turn all the cameras on/off (along with the notifications) in one step. Instead you have to go into each camera and set them on/off which isn't a huge deal but it would be nice to be able to be able to do it in one step. If you can I haven't figured out how yet. lol All in all I highly recommend these cameras and will be buying a couple more soon.

Cheap Caneras that work great
Iโm no stranger to security cameras. Over the years, Iโve tried about half a dozen different brands. Some good, some not so good. But most require a subscription to review video footage. While searching for video cameras that do not require a subscription, I found Tapo cameras. The subscription option is available, but if you insert a micro SD card in each camera, you can review prior recordings with no subscription. I currently have 6 of these cameras around my home, along with the doorbell camera and the door lock. At $30 a camera, plus another $20 for a 128gb Micro SD Card, itโs a fairly low investment for what it offers. I get pet and human detection along with glass breakage and dog barking notifications. I can call each camera and have a 2 way conversation (although not the greatest sound quality , but it works), turn on an alarm or turn on a spotlight. Bang for the buck, there really isnโt anything else out there that can offer all these features at this price. You also have the option to purchase the hub to record all your events and skip buying the micro SD cards. Or do both and have 2 sets recordings.

The price, quality, no monthly bills, you canโt go wrong! Tiny investment & BIG bang for your buck.
I am NOT new (12 YEARS and TWO other brands) to the home camera arena for sure. I came to notice how many models of the Tapoโs there were. I then dove in and figured what was best for me. One of my criteria was that it didnโt force cloud storage and subscription service on you, an SD card would be all you need. It also had to have Motion and Sound detection, and higher resolution than what I was used to was an extra treat. I decided upon the indoor/outdoor Tapo C120โs knowing they would be for indoor use as all my others in the past were. This gives me an option to move any outdoors if I ever had a need. I use a couple of them, instead of being outdoors, on windowsills or on door glass pointing outside. So that you know, if you plan to use in this way, you can not have night vision on. You would get a glass reflection of the night vision sensors. This way has worked fine for me for every model in my past 12 year line-up, as long as there is a porch light, street light, entry door light, some kind of light you are fine. There were several incredible, unexpected surprises after I installed 4 of these. The image quality is amazing, super sharp and clear. The App is super fast and responsive compared to my old... You can easily and instantly swipe between cameras, or just as swiftly look at recorded events (alarms). You can even put the cameraโs in grouped batches of 4-up on a screen together. The flexibility in mounting options make it super easy to put wherever you would like. I am amazed at the difference and how far the technology has come in such a short time. Oh and did I say the price is a fraction of all the other I purchased in the past ? I can buy four Tapo C120โs for the price of ONE of either of my old brands. Right now I am running all 4 Tapoโs remotely in another home and plan to purchase more for primary home and do away with my older inferior brand. My situation was kind of unique and I had some questions, so I reached out to Technical Support. I have to give a shout out to Cliff as my main Technical Support contact. The team went over and above any expectations I ever could imagine from a support standpoint. I have passed my knowledge onto friends and family about these, as you canโt beat these cameras all in all. The price point, the quality, no nagging monthly bills, you canโt go wrong ! Tiny investment with a huge bang for your buck. I am not writing this review for promotional purposes or any of the suchโฆ. I am writing it because when I come across a stand-out product and customer service together, I want to tell my story for others.

Unbeatable Value for Budget-Conscious Smart Home Security
It is genuinely tough to find a security camera at this price point that punches this far above its weight class. The Tapo C120 packs high-end features like crisp 2K video resolution, built-in dual spotlights for color night vision, and an IP66 weatherproof rating into a compact, puck-sized design that works just as well mounted on an outdoor patio as it does sitting on a babyโs nursery bookshelf. The magnetic base and ten-foot power cord make physical setup effortless, allowing you to position it on any metallic surface or wall mount without dealing with complex wiring or dead batteries. What really makes this camera stand out from the competition is how much tech TP-Link gives you without nickel-and-diming you for a monthly subscription. The on-device AI detection accurately identifies people, pets, and vehicles right out of the box, and it even includes specialized audio detection for glass breaking or a baby crying. Pair that smart detection with local recording support for microSD cards up to 512GB, and you have a reliable, full-featured security system with zero recurring costs. It easily earns its Editors' Choice award by delivering premium, clear monitoring without the hidden fees.

Update: Excellent in nearly every aspect. Power cable disconnects with slight movement.
Update: Cameras have a ton of features, and fantastic night or day viewing. It's tedious to set up all the accounts online to see the camera feeds on a PC, but it does work, using iSpy Connect. So I absolutely LOVE that. The wi-fi is powerful and I've had no problems connecting to the indoor or outdoor cameras so far. The power cords must be pressed in as far as they will go, they only make contact in the last 1/8 inch. You need to anchor the cable near the camera after installing, and if you move the camera at all, be sure to push the power cord back in firmly, because it will disconnect. One of my camera's night vision stopped working, I'm returning that one. The mounting hardware and process is very quick and easy. I'd like to see 90 degree camera view rotation as well as the 180. So that a camera can be mounted on a side wall. And right-angle USB power cords would be helpful for space constraints. One caveat. The outdoor Tapo 425 camera will not show in a PC feed, it doesn't work with the RTSP or ONVIF protocol. That's disappointing, but it has all the other great features. Be sure to buy some micro SD cards while you're buying the cameras, for local recording and phone playback. Previous review: Just got the camera. Compact, clever, looks well made. However, the power cable must be pressed in completely to power the device. The tiniest gap from full inserted will stop providing power to the camera, and the smallest movement will disconnect the power. Major flaw. The camera video displays on my phone with no problem after installing the Tapo app and creating an account. Then they harass you to set up an online paid account. To see the camera video on a PC, you have to jump through hoops. First you must set up an RTSP account and password for EACH camera. This is done in the Tapo app. It's a different ID than your Tapo ID. Then you install an app called iSpy, on your computer. Then you jump through more hoops, configuring that, and then it fails and gives errors, and you're nowhere. So I don't know if I'll be able to monitor the cameras on a PC. They're not much use to me if I can't look at a monitor to see what's going on. Like every other security cam I've tried, these don't work very well. I sill use my Logitech PC-linked cameras from 2007, which don't require online accounts, and record video to the PC. And I can glance at the monitor 24/7 to see what the 4 cameras are seeing, live. Two stars for the Tapo cam.

This camera is great!
I have previously owned other cameras, where I have it inside and point out my front window. However, this is the absolute best I have had so far! Other models require a subscription - this one doesn't! (You can purchase an SD card that will record everything - and it holds a lot, too!) It takes a little bit to navigate the app, but I have it set up to record everything on a loop, and then identify (over the course of the whole recording) when a person passes by the field. I bought a 250GB card, and so far it has recorded 3 weeks of video. I previously had a camera that would upload to my google drive, and that only recorded up to 1 week. This video is also higher quality, and much cleaner than the old camera. Others cannot identify anything across a window - this one does! Granted this is much newer and technology has gotten TONS better over time. It will "tag" every person in the field, and then provide markers in my recording indicating when a person crossed the field. This is far more data-rich than my other cameras (across a window). As far as "night vision" - I have found that if you set it on night vision, this will not work across a window. It will only reflect a light on the window and back to the camera. However, the low light sensitivity is excellent on this camera, as it will take the low level of light on the street and boost the video signal so that it can actually see ok at night on its own. Pretty good! It isn't as clean as my ring camera's IR night vision, but it is still good. And definitely worth the sacrifice of not having to pay for a subscription. The one thing I would appreciate for the camera are some accessories to help extend the stand (make it taller) and make it more stable, as I currently have it balanced right at my window. But it has been doing the job, pretty well, as is. Highly recommend!

One of the best budget cameras out there that doesn't absolutely require a monthly subscription
It's rare to find an indoor camera nowadays that isn't completely useless without a subscription fee, but this was is an exception. Initially I had some trouble having this camera identify my wi-fi network, but after a few tries it eventually did and, so far, accessing the live stream has been seamless. This camera sends me notifications when my pets moves from her nap and it's nice that I also have the option to turn those notifications off if they start to get annoying. I got this after my cheap Arlo camera crapped out. Hopefully this one will last longer than a couple of months. Picture quality is pretty good as well.

Great, feature packed, and no subscriptions!
Amazing little camera. Super easy and simple to set up, the included mounting hardware works well, and I really like that it has a magnetic base which makes removal for getting access to the micro SD card or cleaning a breeze. Video quality is excellent (provided you have a strong enough WiFi signal to the camera or it will drop frames). Having it set to record only during โeventsโ the SD card does not have to be big. I have a 64 GB card in the three of these I own, and even the one that faces the street and records whenever it sees a car or a person still has a weeks worth of storage. The starlight or whatever itโs called where it does color in low light is amazing. Around dusk the camera still looks like itโs recording in full sunlight. The night vision is also very good, I can see all the way across the street to the neighbors houses very well, and my alley camera can see almost to the end of the alley My first complaint with these cameras is with the line crossing feature. I set them to notify only when a line crossing event is captured in the yard to see if someone comes onto the property, and there is no software functionality to filter out if itโs a person, a shadow, a piece of cotton, anything. Absolutely anything that crosses the line you draw on the screen will trigger a notification. I set up the line crossing so we didnโt have to filter out false alarms and such with people walking by, but we have trees in the front yard and their shadows swaying in the breeze sets off the line crossing notification constantly. The other detection types are very good, even the beta ones, but line crossing is very bare bones. All other detection modes have a sensitivity setting. Motion, for example, can be turned down so it stops picking up moving shadows or tree branches swaying in the breeze. The ability to adjust the sensitivity at minimum would be ideal, or to be able to set it so only when something it detects as a person crosses the line would turn this terrible feature into a powerful feature. Second complaint is the microphones. They are atrocious. Donโt bank on these capturing anything said unless the people talking are right under the camera. This also applies to the C110s as well that I have inside the house. Any sort of breeze is picked up as well. A calm day with the slightest of breezes will sound like the wind was cranking. Other than those two complaints, these are amazing security cameras. They work extremely well, accurately detect vehicles, people, pets, and motion, and they are inexpensive, and possibly most importantly require no subscription service to use. That was the most important part for me was not having to subscribe to anything. With SD cards in all my cameras, I have access to anything that happens around my house. The one drawback Iโve found to not using the cloud service they offer is you cannot download a recorded video to your phone if you are not on the same WiFi network. You can access them on the camera remotely but you canโt download to save forever until you get home.

Tapo C120 is what I have been looking for, very happy with the camera and tech support.
I have been looking for a security camera for pointing outside my house mainly for monitoring if anyone coming to the house (for delivery etc), any vehicle going to my drive way or park outside my house, and any pets (or racoon) wondering outside my house especially at night. The C120 is exactly what I am looking for. I've been using the tapo C120 for just one month and very happy with this product and the tech support. It got all the features I've looking for among different brands and models, picture quality is quite good day and night, live and recorded video very smooth, small foot print to be mounted on the window frame, flexible camera arm for pointing at the exact angle easily, very considerate magetic base plate and double side tape for simple installation without the need for drilling nor screwing. It has about 5 sec pre-recording when the motion is detected so you won't miss anything right at the beginning of the moment the motion detected, multiple detect zone which so flexible that not confined to just rectangular shape like to older model, detection of person, vehicle and pets work just great, night vision is very clear without the need of infra red or spot light (especially useful when I put the camera behind the window pointing outside the house), quite happy with the motion detection response which is very fast (both day and night time). More important, technical support is very good, I found the recorded video is jerky a couple of times at the beginning of the video, contacted tech support with sample video sent to them, unexpectedly, they responsed the next day and even got a firmware update for me within a week and the problem seems resolved now, of course I will monitor the issue for the next couple of weeks to make sure it is really fixed (which I think it is), also tech support (Ian Xu) responses very fast with good follow up which is another star added.
