The apples are lathed from a natural hard wood found in the area, then lacquered to bring out the beauty of the wood's grain. Prior to forming the apples the wood is kiln dried to prevent warping or splitting. The apples are realistically created with both a stem and blossom sepal and are often mistaken for real.
