Functionally, this works well. As others have noted, it is made mostly of plastic and you get what you pay for. I am using it to provide lighting at the corner of my back lot and it looks nice from a distance. It has a 10 ft cord and I connected it to a 100 ft extension cord which I buried in theground. I wanted the connection protected from the weather, so I wrapped the 10 ft cord around the base and stuffed the connection into the center of the base of the lamp post. I then used large rocks to cover the base to hide the wrapped cord and provide extra support at the base (even though I filled it with sand). It looks nice and I don't have to worry about a wet connection. As an aside, I keep the light in the on position and have the extension cord plugged into an outlet at the side of the house. I then purchased a remote controlled adaptor to turn it on and off from the house. It's GREAT!The lamp post was relatively easy to put together. One of the panes on the lights came cracked but it was intact so I did not try to replace it.I like this light as a landscape feature but it is not of the quality to put in on a porch or deck to display. I bought this in the fall/ winter as anecessity to light up the back yard of the new house so we can see our dog at night. If you don't need it right away, I would suggestlooking at your local stores in the spring or summer for a metal lamp post.

Lamp is beautiful and provides a lot of light. I had 100 lb of sand on the base in sandbags. It does not hold water as some have stated. Wind blew the lamp over and two of the covers were broken. Patio concepts charges $19.00 for replacement of EACH cover plus shipping costs. When I told the customer representative that they were advertised as unbreakable, her response was "I apologize for the inconvenience. Have a great day."

I read through all of the reviews before purchasing this lamp and decided to get it for a party I had this past weekend. I have NO light on my back patio and I was shocked to see how much light this put off. The reviews are right in that I would not leave it outside in a storm and definitely weigh it down with sand. My two complaints are that one of the "globes" came cracked and that it took a while to assemble. However, it was well worth it and Amazon refunded a portion of the cost for the cracked globe. Overall, I would buy it again. It makes my patio feel like a Paris bistro. Love!

Pros: lamp is attractive and tall; even with the base filled with 40 lbs. of sand, it still can be moved around.Cons: for $256, this lamp is very overpriced. The Amazon description omits that the pole trim at the bottom is plastic, not metal, and the seam on this pole trim is ugly. The resin (read: hard plastic) base must be filled with sand in order to provide adequate weight (a point also omitted in the product description). However, even filled with sand, this lamp is unlikely to stand up against even moderate wind. For the price, we expected no product flaws. However, one of the cast aluminum flanges that holds a light globe is crooked; the flange is too rigid to bend straight. So we have one globe that is crooked. The plastic bolts that hold the pole trim to the base are about a 1/8 of an inch too short, so the nuts do not attach securely unless you give the bolts are really good wang with a hammer to get them sufficiently far in the holes in the resin base. This was a really cheap touch for an expensive lamp.

Best patio lamp I've ever had. It looks like it is all metal and with the extra weight of sand or water in the bottom, it is very, very sturdy. It didn't take long at all to assemble it and I'm not usually good at doing these kinds of tasks. I love the fact that it comes with an electrical plug. I can plug it into a timer and have it on dim most of the evening. Love the dim and bright settings too. For the price, I haven't found a better one anywhere. I get compliments on it all the time from guests, neighbors, and friends. Great buy. You won't be disappointed.

I purchased 8 lanterns, four of the acrylic bulbs broke and it took various emails to get to them and get a reply back on the cost to replace them. Once they provided me with a price I decided to order 8 just in case another broke since it was so difficult to deal with them. I was ready to place the order and contact them with my credit card info they told me I needed to go directly through the manufacturer. After various emails and calls to the manufacturer without an answer I called them back again asking for help. This time they provided me with another number. I called the number and the company is not a manufacturer just someone they purchased the lamps from. The lady had no clue what I was talking about and told me she will research and call me back in a few days. A week later I called back and she forgot about it and tells me she is very sorry that she is going to call me back. I'm still waiting for a reply. No replacements and now dealing with this for 6 weeks. I will never buy from this company again!!!

I still love the look of it. Setting up was a bit tricky as the instructions could be better but hang in there you'll figure it out. Look at the picture to fill in the steps missed in the instruction. Been using it for 2 months and it provides plenty of light. The height allows for illumination of a wide area. The only reason i gave it just 4 stars is the price.

Very light and mostly plastic but doesn't look it. I was on the fence until I received several compliments. I'd buy more if it was a little less expensive. I've had it a few months and seems to be holding up well. I haven't filled the base yet with sand and it hasn't fallen over, but I suggest filling it.
