It teaches patience on the parents' part and a sense of pride on the child's part when they tackle a task, even if it's to put away a pair of socks off the floor. A child's room is their sanctuary and allowing them to learn how to keep it neat by not always nagging at them to clean their rooms, sets them on the road to self-reliance and pride in a job well done.
