Once a week shavers
Good news is that this is a solid beauty that is very well balanced and exposure is spot on.On the down side the blade gap and guard span are too much to allow this razor to be classed as mild or mid.Experimented with a full range of blades with mild too dull, mid range missing half the cuts and sharp blades giving a range of results. The blades all seemed to chatter too much so overly sharp will give some notable nicks ( my first for many years ). Finally settled on Astra Platinum being the best but even they required four passes pus additional tidying with another razor to get a close to good shave.I shave most days and rotate my razors, use a pre-shave lotion with Poraso or Taylors every time. My beard is thick and heavy, growing in all directions so two passes is a must for a basic and three for a good, more for perfection. The 66R is in my view best for those with a full weeks growth or more to strip down, the gap then makes good sense but even then I would swap out for a milder razor to complete the job as this is the least efficient razor I own. All the bad news aside I absolutely love the look and feel of this razor and at a price of £20 - £30 its certainly worth having in the arsenal to be used on those rare occasions.

So much better than a cartridge razor.
I've been using this safety razor for 10 months and I find the longer handle provides a good grip while the slightly heavier than average weight make for a smooth, easy shave. Combined with a high quality blade and decent shaving soap - both of which are surprisingly inexpensive, the results are much closer than a cartridge shaver, at a fraction of the cost, and there are no plastic components to be thrown in the bin. The butterfly opening also means I no longer feel as if I need three hands to change the blade.

Poor.
Hugely disappointed. My son had requested this as a Christmas gift but it did not work despite checking online. Returned!

NOT a beginner razor!
Be careful dear customer, that you don't buy this razor as a beginner or mild one. Sure it's a lovely butterfly enclosure and it looks so lovely on your stand. But it will take your head clean off if you're not careful. There's a large blade gap here that is not meant for either newcomer or even perhaps established shavers who shave daily. This one really is for heavier growth when your usual daily go-to handle will likely struggle. You can't do a lot of passes - this razor is ideal if you shave once a week for example, where you could do your initial first pass with this and then switch to a normal razor for the other one or two passes. Don't, for the love of God and all that's Holy, try and do three passes with this. Well you could, but it's gonna hurt.My understanding is that the design of this one has changed in recent years. It did used to be mild but has been redesigned. So maybe if you used to have one of these but you're now looking to replace it, it might be worth looking elsewhere for a daily razor. It does look amazing though...

Beautiful.
The best butterfly razor I have ever used, quite mild but well constructed (all brass) and beautiful to behold. Highly recommended.
