Worked for one day. 2nd unit worked for a month and a half.
UPDATE (16 Apr 2014):OK, so a couple of weeks ago, the slave outlets started to develop a delay in shutting off. At first it was about 30 seconds, then a minute or two, then 5 minutes, then 10 minutes, etc. Well this past Monday (14 Apr 2014) the outlets never shut off, which I didn't discover until the next day. Again last night, the outlets didn't shut off and this morning the outlets were still supplying power. I shut off power to the outlets by turning the Smart Strip power switch off for a few seconds, then back on and the slave outlets 'reset' to the off state. So the Smart Strip is again not functioning as I had hoped it would. This time it worked for about a month and a half. Only, since it's beyond amazon's return date, I now have to deal with the manufacturer to get this resolved. I have reset the number of stars back to 1 since this unit is now just a regular surge suppressor, not a Smart Strip that I had wanted. I would warn others to take a wait & see attitude regarding this unit. I will update this review after I have dealt with the manufacturer.UPDATE (28 Feb 2014):Received the replacement unit today. Outstanding service from Amazon.com. Swapped out units and set up new unit to activate slave outlets using the A/V receiver which was plugged into the master outlet. It worked on the first try. Watched TV for about 10 minutes and turned the A/V receiver off and the slave outlets turned off. I hope this solves the problem for the long term. I'll be watching more TV tonight for a longer duration and see if the unit shuts down at the end of the night after an extended period of use. I'll update this review in the future if the unit stops working within the next year.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I ordered this unit because it had an adjustable sensitivity control. I was concerned that the other units would either work or they wouldn't based on how sensitive the master outlet could detect current draw. I set this unit up the day after receiving it. I initially used my A/V receiver to trigger the slave outlets. I placed the cable box, subwoofer, Bluray player and CD playre on the slave outlets. I followed the directions and dialed in the sensitivity to trigger the slave units, both for turning on and off. Worked fine for the entire day. At the end of the day, after watching TV for about 3 hours, I turned off the A/V receiver and the slave outlets wouldn't turn off. It was too late to debug, so I left the debugging for the next day.The next morning, the power to the slaves was turned off (must have happened some time during the night), so I didn't do any debugging. I thought maybe there was a residual current draw built up over a lengthy use period. The same thing happened that night, no power down on slaves. The next morning, the power was still on to the slaves. Time to debug. I unplugged the A/V receiver from the master, so no current draw at all, but the slaves would not power down. I decided to put the TV on the master thinking maybe the receiver wasn't drawing enough power to trigger the master/slave power up/down procedure. I have a 36" CRT type TV (yeah, yeah, I'm in the market for a new flat screen so I can truly use the bluray player), so I figured the current draw should be sufficient. I powered down the power strip as I swapped the TV & A/V receiver and powered up the strip. Adjusted according to directions and all was good. For the remainder of the day. That night, same issues. Slaves would not power down. Left the debug for the next day.Next morning, slaves were powered down. That night, after watching TV, same issue, slaves would not power down. Left it over night. The next morning the slaves were still powered up. I unplugged the TV from the master. Slaves still stayed energized. I was able to reset the slaves by turning the strip off and then on and the strip worked as advertised until that evening, after watching TV for a few hours, the same issues occurred. Slaves would not power down.I have requested a swap from amazon.com and will try a new unit, but the one I have definitely has problems. Until the replacement unit arrives, I turn the power strip off, then back on to shut the slaves off before going to bed. It's too bad A/V receivers dropped the switched outlets from their backplanes (at least the models I was interested in didn't have them) because that's all I needed for my system setup. If the new unit still doesn't work, I may have to buy a remote controlled power outlet/strip to accomplish the power down of devices that do not need 24 hour power. I want to avoid this because I already have too many remotes sitting on the end table.

love it
I have the TV plugged into the master outlet, my TX-NR 818, lights on the back of my TV, my Apple TV, MY DVD player plugged into the switched plugs. Turn the TV ON everything comes on. I turn the TV off the switched plugs turn off very easy. This is how I set it up, I turned the adjustment knob all the way counterclockwise with everything plugged in I turned the TV ON adjusted the knob slightly clockwise till the switched plugs activated and I was all done works like advertised. Great product. One thing I want to make clear is I really didn't get this to save a couple dollars my thinking is it may extend the life of my receiver plus it's supposed to be a good surge protector and if I save a few bucks it's a bonus.

Saving energy even with a MacPro with insomnia ...
I use this item with my MacPro to switch off my 3 monitors and my audio setup when putting my Mac into sleep mode. The Mac notoriously wakes up from changes in USB devices (unplug, plugin, etc) and in this case that happened as well. The culprit: the build in USB hubs in my monitors (HP ZR22w) which power down with the monitor powering down, and thus waking my Mac up again.Simple work around; I disconnected the build in USB hubs of my monitors, got me a Belkin High-Speed USB 2.0 7-Port Hub and use that one instead.I do have to leave the USB hub power at all times though, but it's convenient to say the least that putting my Mac in sleep mode, switches off my monitors and audio at the same time. One minor downside: in certain positions this item hums a little bit in power-off/eco mode.Highly recommend it ...

Wonderful Outlet!
I've had this outlet (ten outlet version) for about 9 months now, and I have nothing bad to say about it. I have it setup behind my theater setup, and I have a 42" Panasonic VIERA G10 as the main controller. Connected to the power-saving outlets are an Onkyo receiver with 5.1 speakers set up, powered sub, Xbox 360, Wii, and Comcast Set-top DVR box. I turn the TV on, and everything else comes on with it; I turn it off, everything goes off. I've never had a problem with too low of a sensitivity, once I found the sweet spot for the TV itself when first setting it up. Highly recommend if you are concerned with vampire power, especially from the set-top boxes.

Great Power Savings and Protection
I have seen about $5 in savings from my monthly energy usage almost every-time I've used one of these smart strips/surge protectors. Set up is simple and took less than a few minutes and a few turns adjustment dial. And, top top it off, there is plenty of surge and current spike protection!Well worth it!

Home theater problem solver!!!
Coolest idea ever. I have a bunch of converters, amps, and misc. auido/video equipment that is not remote controlled, so now they turn on and off with the master outlet (my receiver). Nice quality, looks good, has been working great.
