GE WD28X10128 Genuine OEM Silverware Basket (Grey) for GE Dishwashers

I purchased this item after the silverware basket on our GE dishwasher had too many holes to contain our silverware comfortably. I took quite a while exploring the various options on-line before making this purchase. My main concern was that it fit in the designated area in the dishwasher (it did - but I had to take the tape measurer out and make sure) and that it was solid enough. Unfortunately that was something I could not tell from the picture. I was also concerned that it didn't match my current baskets shape (more rectangular). On the plus side it had a handle on the top. I absolutely love this item. It's made out of high quality plastic, is incredibly durable and has a handle to lift it out of the dishwasher. There are five separate sections in this basket. There are covers on each side that let you stand your items straight up so they will be cleaned easier, we well as covers in the center areas to do the same. I don't use the center area covers, using that area for larger items. I have had my kids drop silverware into the basket from 2 feet or so and no damage to the basket (I suspect this is what killed our original basket). As for the shape, it actually seems to hold more silverware than my old model, because it organizes the silverware better. Wonderful product. Well made - functional, strong and it has a handle!

Old one was breaking apart in pieces. Junked it, bought this, haven't had a single issue since. Would recommend.

This fit perfectly in our GE dishwasher. Our old basket was full of big holes in the bottom And certain silverware starting falling through. This one replaced the old one easily and is doing well so far. Not sure how long it will last as it seems to be just like the old one, but we've had the dishwasher for quite a few years now, so it's probably worth it if it lasts as long as the old basket did. We've decided not to put any kind of serrated or narrow knives in it from now on to avoid Damaging the bottom of the basket.

Make sure you measure before you purchase because this basket is VERY large all the way around. It is also a much darker gray than what shows in the picture. It has 3 separate snap on tops that go over the basket. The larger middle top has a small latch that locks the lid down but when unlocked the entire lid comes off. I tried to get it to snap in tightly, but I don't think it really does. The lids are not great but are good enough and I'm okay with that. The basket is very deep and I don't think you would have to worry about longer items flipping out during the wash and ending up on the bottom near the heat elements. My dishwasher is not a GE, but this did fit...barely. It would have been my bad for not taking note of the size listed and measuring my dishwasher. The basket fits the entire width of the bottom rack and is 8" high. PLEASE NOTE: my dishwasher does not have an upper rack washing arm. If yours does, make sure you flip the basket so the handle is up against the door. I don't know if it would interfere with the rotating arm, but I would suggest that you place it that way anyway just to get a clean wash. My first inclination was to put the handle inside to make the basket easier to load...but since I wanted as much water and soap on them as possible, I flipped it so the handle was to the door and the basket facing inwards. I don't really have a problem reaching over to load since I pull the rack fully out when loading the dishwasher anyway. I bought the basket mainly for being able to stack the silverware in the separate slots to allow for more thorough cleaning, but my knives are too thick to fit in the slots so they end up in one of the two side pockets that I left open on purpose for larger items. Also, the basket is so deep that my smaller spoons and forks swing free, but that is not a big deal. Overall, it seems pretty solid and it fits my needs so I am recommending it. But make sure you measure!

We have had this dishwasher for quite some time, so when the bottom of one of the silverware cages broke and was allowing things to slip down into the swingarm, I started looking for a replacement. I went to the appliance shop where we bought the dishwasher and they said GE was no longer making that exact silverware caddy, but had a replacement that would work fine. When I looked out on the GE website they were sighting the same revised part number as well. Well that mistake cost me $50 and it was less than half the size of the original ( width and length ) caddy. Since it was a 'special order', I could not return it. I found this one on Amazon and it fits perfect and can handle the same amount of silverware and misc. Yeah Amazon!

The measurements are not accurate. Here is what I measured. Length 50cm (19-5/8 inch), Width 9.6cm (3-3/4 inch), Height without handle 14.3cm (5-1/2 inch), Height with handle 21.5cm (8-5/8 inch). Fit my Kenmore Dishwasher almost perfectly (Ultra Wash model). I read other reviews of GE WD28X10128 from other vendors. Many people said it fits Kenmore. I assume it works for most models. The shape is a waste of space at the corners. I cannot imagine what GE models would do with those triangle areas.

Price is right will work in other dishwashers that want considerable more for Their basket. However, the plastic is still not the most durable and will likely need replacing again.

Sturdy product. Fits in the space allocated for it. Love that the tops of each section has a removable cover.
