Bandai Hobby - Gundam Wing - #38 Gundam Epyon, Bandai Spirits RG 1/144 Model Kit

Hands down one of the best Real Grade kits. A satisfying build, tons of great detail and shelf presence, and some wonderful accessories.

I love how far the Real Grade line has come over the years. This thing is, to me, more detailed than the larger Master Grade and it was a blast to build. The Heat Whip is pure Bandai voodoo: you don't have to worry about cutting off numerous tiny parts, sanding them, and assembling them: it's all one piece on the runner for you to snip off, saving you a lot of time. If I had one complaint, it would be that the included stickers look awful on it: the edges are way too noticeable and jarring, so I removed them. If you buy this, do what I should have done and look at getting some third party waterslide decals to go with it.

I got this as a gift for my brother and he loves it. He's a huge nerd for Gundam and says this one is legit.

I purchased this model for myself with some of my reward points after Xmas shopping. My son and I have put together some of the larger Gundam models and I enjoy trying to puzzle out the Japanese instructions.Ease of Use: 3/5 The directions to assemble this are in Japanese, if you can't read Japanese please understand you will need to look at the pictures and just figure it out. (I enjoy that part personally). Also, this is a medium sized model, some of the parts are VERY tiny. If you are a middle aged boomer, like myself, you may end up with a small migraine from trying to focus on the tiny parts.Quality: 5/5 everything came in perfect condition, including the box. I've ordered models in the past where the box came damaged.Appearance: 5/5 This model is badass...enough said.Value for the Money: 5/5 it took me about 4 hours to fully assemble the model (again, I'm a boomer with pretty bad eye sight). Dollar per entertainment hour makes this an exceptional value!

This kit felt great to build, not too difficult and came out looking great. The transformation is simple and doesn't compromise the rest of the model kit like the RG Zeta Gundam. The kit looks slightly different from the anime, but the changes look good (little dragon mouths on the feet that can open when in flight mode, slightly different wings, etc.) Great color separation too. The heat whip of the kit also comes as one pre-molded piece which makes it so that you don't have to tediously assemble each section of the whip, makes the whip feel stronger, and easy to set in dynamic poses by rotating pieces of the whip. Accessory-wise the kit only comes with a beam saber, shield, and heat whip; but that's because the Epyon didn't really use anything else so it wouldn't make sense to include a rifle or other handheld weapon. Comes with a large sticker sheet for adding additional superfluous details, although the piece for the eyes is color correct which allows you to skip applying those annoying eye stickers if you choose which is a nice bonus.

I ordered it in the evening and it arrived the next morning! Contents are fine, would've been 5-stars if the box didn't get that ding 😂 Pristine packaging is important for aesthetics, but I was really impressed with Amazon's delivery speed this time. Additionally, I looked at another site and I saved about $20 if I had ordered this sameEpyon on their website, which was also out of stock, so actually 4.5 out of 5.This RG Epyon is a MUST HAVE for anyone who wants to get into model kit building.This isn't my first Gundam Model Kit, I haven't assembled it yet, but Epyon is one of my favorite Gundams, I've seen unboxing and post-assembly of it, and it's just beautiful. The manual has a LOT more pages than anything I've put together, but I know the extra time will be well-spent and worth it to see Epyon posed up with my other models.
