Worked perfectly
I used this rod to add an earth ground to a storage building I have. The electrical panel that was in it had all the neutral and ground wires going to the same bus beam. I recently added a hot tub and wanted to make sure it had a GFI but it kept tripping the GFI because the neutral return was grounded. Anyway this rod allowed me to create an earth ground. It hammered in quite easily especially with the sharp point and solid metal. The ground contact tie in works great too. Overall I am glad I was able to get this thing to give me a little more peace of mind.

Good temporary ground rod that is easy to drive into the earth
This 3-foot grounding rod is suitable when you need a generator or an amateur radio antenna in a temporary location. The galvanized iron is a standard material for ground rods, and the 4 ‘wings’ provide a much greater surface area for ground contact, as this is a relatively short ground rod. It is easy to drive in because of its shape and tapered end. If you can saturate the ground before driving it in, it will make the job much easier and increase conductivity. Because of its short length, it is unsuitable for lightning suppression or as a permanent ground for a building (the National Electrical Code calls for an 8-foot ground rod for those applications). I intend to use it for a temporary generator installation, as it is easy to transport and has a built-in clamp for a large (12 or 10 AWG) wire.

Really heavy duty
This grounding rod is really heavy duty rod. I have been installing multiple electric fences around the property and for that with all the drought issues we have been having this year you cannot have too many grounding rods. I had to double and even triple the amount of grounding rods used because of the drought this year. This rod is not easy to get into the soil compared to a regular grounding rod. This one is more like a t post and had to in like a t post. Preinstalled bolts to secure the grounding wire is a nice bonus or alligator clips could be used over the top as well. Not sure yet if this type of grounding rod works better then regular shaped yet, this will have to determinant after more prolonged use in different conditions. It would be nice if they would offer them in bulk with bulk pricing because I would definitely buy more and will be recommending them.

Luxury Ground rod! But check local code.
This ground rod is seriously "luxury" the way i see it. This thing is a bit shorter than the copper type, but has many times the surface area and contact with the soil, which makes it more effective. It's STRONG as you can imagine, i always have problems with the copper ground rods bending while trying to drive them, with this, you could use a massive sledge hammer and not bend it. It has a nice point and drove into teh ground really well.I use quite a few ground rods for electric fence unites on teh ranch. They specify 3 copper rods, and with it as dry as it is here, you want to do that. I used just this one for one of my power units and the output measured the same as the ones with 3 ground rods.. So i don't need as much ground wire, i don't need as many rods that are really annoying to drive, and still get the performance that i need. Now, with that said, i'm sure that "a ground rod is a ground rod" as far as functionality, so it'd work for all ground rod needs, however, you'll want to check your local code, as it may specify a specific length of copper rod, in which case, you wouldn't pass with this, even though it's superior. I would DEFINATELY use this rather than copper rods in any situation where i don't have to pass an inspection where teh inspector won't care about anything but the letters on the paper.

Good except the finish...
The ground rod is nice and sturdy. It’s shaped like a plus sign (+) if you look at it from above with it upright, like when it’s driven into the ground. This shape makes it very solid. The whole thing tapers to a point (obviously) and is relatively easy to drive into the ground. If you have any trouble, drag out the water hose and saturate the heck out of the spot you want to put it.The finish isn’t very good as it was flaking off inside of the plastic that it was wrapped in inside of the shipping box. I’m not too thrilled about that part. The cable clamp is mounted onto a flat welded piece of metal. The clamp is basically a smaller u-bolt that goes through the welded-on plate and is tightened down by the two nuts on the bolt.Other than the peeling problem, I’d say I recommend this ground rod as long as you’re prepared for the finish problem.
