utterly captivating
After reading the first of this series I was drawn to this second one not only because of enjoying the first..but after reading the storyline for this one it really tugged on my heart to read it.I was so not disappointed! I had small doubts after reading reviews that talked of how serious and deep some of it would be..but what I found touched my heart in such a way as to leave a mark of remembrance of the book and especially the main characters. I was also so refreshed by the fun element...Bobby and Rig were not just totally loveable and caring, but so damn funny!! I laughed so hard at some points it was fantastic. Their banter of an old married couple was not just great to read it was also really touching in the way they lovingly infected Mason (who by the way was such a gentle, kind and intelligent man) with how they interacted. The way Bobby and Rig fell for Mason was beautiful, carefully written and not rushed.. and I fell for all three of these lovingly painted charecters. I only have one gripe and it is simply to say that I would love more books based on these three characters because one is definitely NOT enough! I know there is the possibility they will appear in others of the series which I have not yet read...but I crave more of their personal journey with Mason and how he overcomes some of his social anxiety..such as maybe going to the club. Suffering myself to a degree with social anxiety I understood Mason's fears and thoughts around meeting people and have to say this author painted a very real picture for me. My heart melted at how Bobby and Rig handled Mason's near panic attack and earlier when they help drunk Mason to sober up and hold him through his pain.I am very picky about what I read...looking for many different things in a book...deep and believable characters, captivating plot that grabs your heart in different directions, and touching emotional connections especially in dealing with bdsm fiction..this had it all...and more

Abslutely amazing read x
Oh how I love menages....Mason....Rig and Bobby.....This one started off quite hard to read and tears flow on the first couple of pages...It starts with Mason attending one of his Doms funeral....He has the ashes of one but the other ones family denied him the burial he wanted...To read what Mason went through losing both his Doms in an accident was horrible....You really feel for him and just want to hug him so tight.....When Bobby gets a weird feeling that he must go check on Mason a few days after first scaring the poor man, him and Rig save Masons life....They find him drunk and possibly on he brink of suicide....they don't immediately jump into a relationship...most of the book is about Rig and Bobby helping Mason get over his Doms deaths..With them losing their sub seven years previously they know what he's going through....I can't help think that Mason had it slightly harder seeing as Rig had Bobby and Bobby had Rig but you feel for all three of them...and with help of a friend Max (who I know is in the next book) they manage to come together as a family.....When Rig and Bobby take Mason the Folsom you kind of want to hug Mason even tighter as he is not good in social situations and he has to meet Micah who is just so bouncy and bubbly but you know his doms are going to watch over him....Another great read and onto the next one which i just know is going to be my fav x

Another brilliant Guards of Folsom novel
If you're in the mood for a little kink, the Guards of Fosom novels are delectable. This story focuses on 2 Doms who are on vacation where they come across a sub that has recently lost his Doms in a car accident. Poor Mason is drowning in his grief and I just wanted to hug him so badly. Rig and Bobby really come to Mason's rescue. I loved all of the characters, the writing is sublime and I was practically giddy with anticipation at the end, with all of the new characters you get introduced to at the club, as you know these characters will make an appearance in future Guards of Folsom books. I totally recommend this book and the previous novel Pup. Read them you won't be disappointed. Ooh did I forget to mention how hot they are? ....

A little disappointed
The story in general was great. The writing and character, i enjoyed. However.. in Pup it is stated that both Rig and Bobby are hardcore and into Humiliation and Watersports. HOWEVER none of this was mentioned or explored which left me majorly disappointed as i was super excited to read this book Because of their kinks...the only real play wasnt even play but more maintenance spanking...i just felt that each book leads us to believe the next will be about something it really isn't.. this book is about loss. Grief. And learning to allow others in when living in the past...and severe social anxiety. Im glad i read it and without the mention of their kinks in Pup i would have still read it if it were cheaper...as i spent 7$, had i known there would be No actual real kink at all i wouldn't have spent the money..

Sweet story
This was a nice story about 2 older Doms helping a younger sub through his grief. Although it was a little predictable as to what the outcome was going to be I still liked this book and the characters in it. I hope there is a follow up novella or another book in the series to show these guys enjoying being together without their grief dominating the story.

There aren't sufficient words...
Review of TAG TEAM, by SJD PetersonReview by Jaycee, for Books ‘N Cozy Spots Book Reviews, www.Talon-ps.comPurchased at Amazon.comSo, what didn’t I like about this book?...Okay now, what did I like about this book? Absolutely. Everything. It gets more and more difficult to come up with new words and feelings and phrases for stories and characters and worlds that you love. Without sounding…trite, at least. But dayum if this series doesn’t just warm the cockles of my jaded little heart a bit more, every single time I read. So, in order of occurrence but certainly not importance:I cried for Mason. Not sweet, movie-star tears mind you. I ugly-cried. Heaving sobs and running nose and the whole nine yards. Most unattractive…I was overjoyed that Rig and Bobby were not fresh-faced young bucks, but rather men of a certain age, who still lived big and loved large and had grabbed life by the short hairs despite some debilitating life-events of their own to deal with. I am ecstatic when a writer recognizes us old farts not only have feelings, but act on them too. With gusto!I got that warm-fuzzy when other characters from Folsom came to visit and provided that stabilizing sanity a person is only good at when the life that’s happening isn’t happening to them.I am in love with these men and their trials, tribulations and utter intestinal fortitude.I am in awe of an author with the gift of heart and soul and compassion, and one who also has the gift of true storytelling.I am pleased to heartily recommend this book…and series…and I’m most insistent that you go start it. Right now. Because I know The Guards of Folsom…

good follow up
I read some of the other reviews and it seemed that this boom was a bit more dull than the first one, it was a great story and good plot and characters. And it was a good read, even tho it was a little or no play at the club or other.Worth the read ... Can't wait to read the next one..

B+ rating...
My Review:I'll admit it, I'm an angst ho and this book definitely fed that need. Although this book is part of the Guards of Folsom series, it had a very different feel in that the majority of the book took place in Florida, away from the BDSM scenes. In fact, there was very little of this book that was about the sex at all. This was most definitely an emotion-based book...remember that angst I mentioned? This book features a menage relationship, but it's not one that sets up like normal. Bobby and Rig are both big, bad, older Doms. They were in a triad relationship until 7 years ago when their sub died. In a twist of fate that can only happen in fiction, they meet Mason just as he's hit rock bottom. Both his Doms were killed in a car accident 4 weeks before this book takes place. They literally save him from himself. This book is about the three of them finding their way past the grieving of their mutual losses within each other. It was an interesting dichotomy just because it was so unusual. Rig and Bobby...I pictured them completely like middle aged bears. They still like their sex hot and heavy, but are mature enough to realize when someone needs so much more than that like Mason does...he's floundering and they want to protect and help him. I kept picturing them like big teddy bears...all rough and gruff on the outside but truly cuddle bunnies and squishy on the inside. Because they have been with each other a long time, they have an easy relationship between the two of them. They know how to read each other and I really liked that aspect of their relationship. While they may not always agree on their approach to things, they had a level of trust and ease between them that make it work. Then there's Mason. gah...my heart broke for him and his circumstance. He's so alone. To go from having two other people who make up his world to none in a split second would be nothing short of devastating. I truly could see and understand the depths of his loss and his inability to face life without his guys. Add to that his social anxieties and I wanted Rig and Bobby to bundle him up and care for him as much as they wanted to do so.Like I said this was truly a book about the emotional recovery, but there were a few hot and heavy scenes too. Just don't go into the book expecting that in the way that there is in the others from this series. There's a journey the characters have to go through first before they get there.
