This cabinet is sturdy it doesn't feel like it's going to fall over once loaded which is very nice compared to other cabinets that feel top heavy. The shelves are sturdy I wouldn't put 50 lb on each shelf but all of my knick knacks fit with no problem. And no Boeing of the shelves nothing that made me think it wouldn't hold anything up. It's awesome cuz you can light it light bulbs you can find light bulbs in different colors depending on what you're storing inside like in a kid's room colored lights with childhood keepsakes could be really fun doesn't have a lock standard but if needed be to keep little hands out it would be fairly easy to add a child safety feature to do need to.
