Would I recommend this SSD? Yes, I've had it for a little over a month now and I've had no issues. (I bought the 500 GB version and am only talking about the 500 GB version) I would recommend you also check if you want a different similarly priced SSD. Why I bought it (please skip if you do not care): I have a laptop that had a hard drive. The hard drive would blue screen like once a month for a few months before it decided to completely brick itself. It would blue screen about 1 minute after booting. It would still let me boot into safe mode without blue screening but I couldn't use wifi so there was no point. I could no longer write to the drive. I have a HP laptop and since they come with HP hardware diagnostic tools, I was able to determine that the problem was the drive and not something else. I bought this drive just because it was the first one I saw that would arrive the next day. My laptop broke on Friday and I was able to get it working before school on Monday. Instillation (Drive and Windows): Installing the drive was very easy for me because I have a good amount of computer knowledge. This drive and my old hard drive are exactly the same size so all I had to do was remove my old drive. Then I took the vibration cover off the hard drive, this cover also held the drive in place. I put the cover on my SSD and slid it into the drive area. It fit tightly in there just like my old hard drive. After that, I turned on my computer and went to the bios to make sure it would boot off of a usb. I plugged in my window install usb and the computer was able to boot into the windows install manager. I was able to painlessly install and boot into windows 10. My old windows used secure boot but the new windows used legacy boot so I did have to change that in to bios to be able to boot. Since I have an HP laptop my virtual windows license automatically transferred to the fresh install of windows. Performance: I have uploaded 2 pictures of this drive's performance. The performance is as advertised and the differences could be do to a lot of different things. In day to day tasks it is a lot faster and smoother then my old hard drive with 16 gb of optane. Windows boot time is significantly faster. Downloading, transferring, and unzipping files is a lot faster. Being able to use my computer while windows is updating in the background is also nice. For gaming, don't expect a significant improvement in most games. Maybe your load times will be a bit faster but most games just don't really rely on your drive. Overall: This drive has not given me any issues over the month that I have owned it. I highly recommend buying it.

My daughters Dell G3 notebook was getting really slow, especially after upgrading to Windows 11. It got to the point that she didn’t even want to use it anymore because the hard drive would just grind away for an hour or so after boot up. Decided it was time to replace the drive with an SSD. Some of the brands I was considering were WD, Samsung and Crucial. I had never used Crucial before, but reviews seemed to be good for the MX series, which is supposed to be a step up from the BX. At the time of purchase, the Crucial MX500 was cheaper than the similar competitor drives and was faster than about half of them with up to a 560MB/s transfer rate, so I went with it. No, problems with the installation of the drive. All screw holes match the existing configuration as well as all connectors for power and data. Formatting and reimage also went without a hitch. After running all updates, my daughter’s computer is running great. Very fast bootup, program startups and browser loads. This made her very happy and like her computer again. I’m glad everything went smoothly and for not even close to $100 was able to put off buying a new notebook for her. Just to be clear on usage and expectations, my daughter does play games on it, but they are not as hardware intensive as some of the popular titles out there and she mainly uses it for MS Office, surfing the web and streaming. Under those conditions, the Crucial MX500 has been performing admirably. I can’t say how it would do under tougher conditions with constant, rapid data exchange and higher temperatures caused by nearby components. We’ll have to see how this drive performs long term but, so far, I am impressed considering I have never used this brand before. I recommend this drive to anyone looking to upgrade to an SSD. I will update this review if anything wrong pops up, but if you don’t see any updates, then it’s still running strong.

I finally upgraded my spinning disk to an SSD, Crucial have been around for ages and this seemed like a good drive for the budget conscious consumer; it helped that I got this on sale as well. I purchased this for installation into a desktop rather than a laptop, this caused me some issues as the original drive was a 1TB partitioned into 2 drives (C: and E: for data). This meant that the Acronis cloning software could not clone the drive (1TB to 500GB doesn't go). Also, the drive was not recognized by Acronis if I used a USB to SATA cable. So, after some research and a quick email to Crucial support the solution was to use the backup/restore method which involved creating a backup of the C: drive (what I wanted on the SSD) to an external USB drive, then restore it to the SSD. Note that you have to have the SSD connected otherwise the Crucial OEM version of Acronis will not work. I had to make sure that I only backed up the C: drive and the recovery drive. Then you restore to the SSD and everything worked as expected; I had some more work on the old drive (preserving the data partition) but everything now works perfectly. I can definitely feel that the computer is quicker, boot times have been reduced, also signing into Windows 10 is quicker since the SSD is serving up the data much more quickly, web browsing is quicker as the cache is more readily available, also searching in Windows quicker as the search files are on the SSD. Overall a great choice for resurrecting a PC that just needs a little more oomph! Update January 2019 I just went through the same thing on another desktop computer, same thing as before, backup partitions to an external drive, restore to the SSD, reconnect the original drive. The process was smoother this time but I did have a little hiccup where I did not set the boot partition correctly, once this was done everything worked as expected. This machine is even older than the previous one and you can feel the difference when booting and loading the browser. Overall I still give this drive a 5 star rating and (right now) the price for 500GB is amazing at around $58, a bargain to resurrect an old PC. I will be getting one more, this time for an old laptop whose hard drive is starting to sound a little dangerous, I'll report back once this one is done.

I have purchased two of these, one for an older laptop and another for a new one. Ease of installation is dependent on how much work is needed to backup your hard drive onto a USB connected SSD , dismantle your laptop, remove the existing platter type hard drive, install the SSD, and reassemble your laptop. Both of my laptops are HP and I found disassembly instructions on the web. As long as you prepare and follow the instructions you will be a success. My old laptop went from a 2 minute boot to a 10 second or less boot and data access is faster. If you don't like Crucial's backup software there are other programs available. Crucial worked well for me. After installing the new drive it is a matter testing and updating your software, if needed, which is something you should do anyway. Whatever was on your old hard drive will be on your new SSD. I installed the SSD in a low cost external drive case with a USB connection (purchased from Amazon) to store an image of my hard drive onto the SSD, then installed it, booted up, and everything worked as it should. As a test, after creating the image, you can boot from the SSD connected to your USB port. If you use the Crucial software make sure you also install their Storage Executive software. It will optimize your SSD and make sure it works properly automatically. If you have a desktop the same procedure applies except it is much easier to remove the old drive and install the new one. Crucial also makes motherboard installed SSDs that are even easier. Install it, backup to it, remove your hard drive (or leave it in if you prefer), and you're done. These drives are even faster, although you can't tell the difference. I looked at several SSD manufacturers before choosing Crucial and at several software packages before again choosing Crucial. The same procedure applied: set up the new laptop, backup to the USB attached SSD, remove the hard drive, and install the SSD. Prior to dismantling your laptop there are some things you should do. Wear clothes that don't create a static charge. Wear a static discharge wrist band connected to ground (I purchased mine from Amazon). I removed the ground lug from a plug, plugged it into an outlet, and clipped my wrist band to it. Make sure you have downloaded and printed dismantling instructions for your specific laptop and follow them. Take your time. If you have pets stay away from them. If you decide to keep your old hard drive you can store it in your external USB connected case. There are several sized SSDs available. My laptops use around 220 GB each so I chose 500GB Crucial SSDs. When you start using the software, one of the first things you will do is to setup your SSD partitions. I used the partition sizes from my hard drives as a template to setup my SSD partitions. There also are several SSD manufacturers. I selected Crucial after looking at the Samsung EVO drives and a few others. Both Samsung and Crucial came highly recommended by users. Others not as much. I am very pleased with Crucial, their products, and their fast replies to questions I had. Having an SSD in place of a hard drive is like night and day. I will never to back.

Don’t make my mistakes, buy this DRIVE! This drive was my third choice and third purchase in replacing my PlayStation 3 hard drive in 2026. After watching some YouTube video about upgrading your ps3’s HDD to a SSD, I had to upgrade my system. My first choice was the Samsung 870 evo, purchased through eb*y.com from Hong Kong.. Upon arrival i knew right away it was a bootleg, no Samsung branding just the drive and the word “870 evo” with some serial #s . After formatting and installing the drive to console it died within 24hrs. Doesn’t even read on my computer any longer to repair. Second purchase was a Toshiba 1Tb HDD, after accepting defeat on the evo I decided to go back to the hdd but a larger size. Going from 120gb to 1tb was a considerable compromise to not having a SSD. The Toshiba drive Lasted 1 entire week before corrupting, then proceeded to corrupt every other power cycle. To the point I couldn’t use the console without having to start from scratch with no game utilities. Rendering me with two pretty expensive paperweights Finally that bring me to the crucial mx500! I ordered the crucial mx500 size 500gb, since it was around the price range I could afford due to my past mistakes on drives. Arrived in a quick fashion, if not the next day. & it was As simple as plugging in, installing system software from a separate thumb drive and GO! It has been at minimum of 3 months since I’ve installed the drive, I’ve had no issues at all. I cannot confirm if install speeds are faster, but can 100% say that load times have came down dramatically. (Example)….I haven’t seen the loli pop girl on the gta v loading screen in so long i think i seen her photo on a milk carton. Currently I’ve downloaded 20+ music albums, one movie, 20+games from the PlayStation store, and have +250gb remaining to do as i please..

CORSAIR TX Series TX850M 850W 80+ Gold Modular Power Supply (Adequate power supply for into the future and has ample connectors). 8. Corsair LPX 32GB DRAM 3000MHz C15 Memory Kit for DDR4 Systems (Adequate for my application for work and gaming) 9. Cooler Master Hyper RR-212E-20PK-R2 LED CPU Cooler with PWM Fan, Four Direct Contact Heat Pipes (Instructions are poor, system builders with experience will have no problem, first timers will eventually figure it out. Comes with all you need including thermal paste). 10. ASUS MX239H 23-Inch, Full HD 1920x1080 IPS, Audio by Bang & Olufsen ICEpower HDMI VGA Frameless Monitor (Really nice monitor for the price though those heavy gamers will want something far superior. Built in Audio is good enough for You Tube and regular use, but I personally find its not so good for Netflix, look at some decent speakers based on your needs). 11. I bought this Crucial MX500 to replace a very old 1st generation SanDisk SSD, which held 128 GB. With the Windows 10 Pro OS and several large software packages used daily and creating files, the SanDisk was a bit small - it had come in my "daily driver," a refurbished Lenovo T430 i7 with 8 GB of RAM. I'd been watching for a good quality but larger SSD for the C: drive. When the MX500 went on sale at a very good price, I bought it. I'd checked out reviews of this drive on several sites I trust - all had rated it very highly. I was not able to do the install immediately - my USB-SATAIII transfer cable had gone where the odd socks are, so I needed another to do the clone and swap. (A word of caution: make sure the "clone" cable you get is has the correct connectors for your drive). I looked at a couple of good videos and articles on transferring the system drive in Win 10, then downloaded the Acronis software package provided as part of the Crucial MX500 purchase. Just for safety's sake, I also made a bootable Windows System Recovery USB stick, using the tools on Microsoft's web site. All the instructions provided in the Crucial package were straightforward and writtenin easy, plain-language steps with illustrations. The supplied Acronis "clone" software installed easily, and stepped through the procedure with very specific instructions. I connected both the new and old SSD drives as suggested, then started the cloning process and went off to have a coffee. The whole job was finished and the cloned drive error-checked automatically in under 30 minutes. I tested the new drive to make sure it started up correctly, which it did with no problems. After that, it was simply a matter of re-installing the mounting screws on the drive bay with the supplied spacer, and storing the old 128 GB drive into a static-safe bag. I'm keeping it as an emergency boot-up device, since the process leaves the old drive intact. It isn't large enough to be of much use on any other system, and it is very old - SSD's have a finite number of read-write cycles before starting to have errors. So, it's there for emergencies. I found that the new MX500 was considerably faster in both start-up and operation than the old 1st generation SSD - I'm sure the technology has improved, and the drive has more space for cache purposes. I did not have to re-register anything on the Microsoft web site. The only other thing I noticed was that several of my regular online sites accessed by web browser asked for an extra "confirmation" step when I logged in. This happened over 2 successive days, and after that I'd apparently proved that I'm still me, so the requests for additional login validation stopped. This was a minor thing - I was actually rather glad to see that there was that level of extra security on those few sites. To sum up, this SSD, in the 2.5" form factor for older laptops, is a very good choice as far as ease of cloning and installation. The Acronis software supplied by Crucial worked perfectly and quickly. The instructions were clear, with pictures, and well written. Getting the drive while on sale was an nice bonus. The performance of the new MX500 is much better than the 10-year-old SSD it replaced - overall probably 30-35% faster. Five stars all around for the Crucial MX500 SATAIII 2.5" SSD.

El SSD en sí es una maravilla. Lo bueno: Es bastante rápido en comparación con otros SSD tipo sata, no le pide nada a los NVME. Es de fácil instalación siempre y cuando la computadora a actualizar tenga los requerimientos necesarios. Ya viene actualizado el firmware, por lo que no hay necesidad de descargar nada. Es bastante ligero sin embargo la calidad de los materiales se sienten premium. Lo malo: Incluye una lámina de plástico para ajustarlo a las carcasas donde viene el HDD de fábrica de las pc's. Sin embargo es poco útil. Usualmente terminas retirando por completo la carcasa. Conclusión. El SSD es de los mejores que puedes adquirir y tiene una buena relación costo-calidad, costo-beneficio. Definitivamente es un must para volver más rápida tu pc. Como persona principiante en la actualización de hardware debo advertir que no solo se fijen en lo básico de su pc a la hora de ver la compatibilidad. Se debe tomar en cuenta el modelo de placa madre, la versión SATA, las velocidades que admite, pero también la arquitectura que manejas, el tipo de arranque que maneja la bios, etc.

So I didn't know much about SSDs before I set out to buy one. I'll share with you how my journey buying this SSD was and what I learnt and what you should know. MX500 is not the most budget-friendly and entry-level SSD out there (there is WD Green, Crucial BX500, Kingston A400 and some others) but I would say it's excellent for the price. Before the MX500, I had purchased its younger sibling, BX500, and I noticed+learnt a couple of things with that. 1. Similar transfer speeds at around 390 MB/s 2. SLC caching (16 GB for 240 GB variant, 32 GB for 480 GB variant and so on). What it means is that after writing 16 GB, 32 GB and so on, write speed would drop significantly because instead of writing to the SLC cache of the drive, data would be written directly to the TLC. SLC is way faster than TLC (around 400 MB/s write to the drive while using SLC cache and around 50-80 MB/s once SLC cache is full). This SLC cache varies from SSD to SSD and can be seen even on premium SSDs that cost 20k-30k (it brings down the cost, otherwise those drives would cost over a lakh or something!) Also, the BX500 had a 3-year warranty (MX500 has a 5-year warranty) and lower TBW (Terabytes Written) rating than the MX500. So I returned my BX500 because the performance was an issue and chose to go with MX500. Performance of the MX500 is superb. I have it hooked to my MacBook Air using a Transcend StoreJet SATA to USB adaptor thingy just like I did with the BX500. I transferred around 80 GB data from my MacBook to the MX500, and it moved files and folders at about 350 MB/s to the drive throughout the transfer, with speed drop to around 150 MB/s 5-6 times for 3-4 seconds each time (that was because it was moving tiny files and folders). Crucial says that the MX500 has a Dynamic Write Acceleration on their website. Well, it clearly works! So should you buy an MX500? It depends. If you are planning to buy an SSD that will probably last for years, if you plan to write lots of data to the drive, if you need an SSD as a scratch disk (for photo and video editing) or if you want an SSD that's good but costs less than the Samsung SSDs, then go for MX500. I'm building a PC in a couple of weeks and I'll use the MX500 as the boot device in that. However, if you have an old laptop that is extremely slow and takes forever to start, maybe you have desktop with some old, failing hard drive and you are looking for an SSD, and you are not a heavy user (that is you'll browse the web, write emails and do stuff like that), then save some money (if you wish) and go for the BX500. About the delivery of the product, I got an empty box when I ordered the MX500 from Amazon. Once I got it and saw that the item was missing, I brought it to Amazon's notice, and they said they would take two days to conduct an investigation. However, when I called the next day, I got to know that they concluded that I could get a replacement or a refund. The process for replacement wasn't very smooth (it took about a week to get a replacement unit), but in the end, I got the product, and the product is pretty much excellent like I had expected, hence the five stars. Another important thing that I want to mention is that the MRP in the box of the 500 GB variant of the MX500 is Rs 8,400 (screenshot attached) and at the time of writing this review on 30 June 2020, there are a couple of sellers on Amazon named "Cart2India Online" and "Cart2India SLP" who are selling the product at twice the price (Rs 14,358). There are some other sellers also who list the MRP as Rs 9,000 or 10,000 and then say they are providing a discount of Rs 4,000 or Rs 5,000 when in fact, they are only offering a discount of Rs 2,500 or something. I especially saw this with the seller "Gadget Buggy". Basically, AVOID THESE SELLERS and buy from Appario Retail Private Ltd or the other Fulfilled By Amazon sellers.

Il faut savoir que cela touche principalement les Scorpio Edition qui ont semble t-il bénéficié de HDD médiocre en plus d'avoir eu une mauvais application de patte thermique (ils en ont trop mis, ça déborde de partout et du coup sa dissipe mal, le ventilo est toujours à fond ou presque et donc beaucoup de bruit ... je vous recommande vraiment de refaire la patte thermique si vous faite le changement de SSD, en plus de tout dépoussierrer, votre machine sera mieux ventilé, dissipera bien mieux et les performances ne pourront qu'être plus stable) ce qui explique peut être que l'utilisation devenait beaucoup trop pénible ... voulant acheter une Series X juste pour avoir enfin une interface réactive mais réalisant que cette dernière comme la PS5 n'apporte pour le moment rien niveaux jeux (pas de gap générationnelle, juste de banal amélioration qui apporte trop peu par rapport à une One X), j'ai finalement opté pour le SSD. Le MX500 en 500Go (le 1To est trop cher encore et puis ayant un HDD externe de 8To ... 500Go en SSD suffit pour installer seulement les jeux auquel je joue beaucoup, quand j'y joue plus, je vire sur le HDD etc) car d'après pas mal de test, il est parmi les meilleurs du marché, dans le Top 3 et souvent premier en vitesse ! Donc un excellent choix ! Facile à remplacer grâce au branchement sata de la console, aucun soucis pour le placement interne,installation de l'OS avec clé USB (on le trouve sur le site de MS) rapide et une console ENFIN rapide et réactive ! Mes 550 jeux dans l'onglet s'affichent en vignette rapidement et l'interface est réactive ! Je peux vraiment faire ce que je veux à la volée sans devoir attendre des plombes, sans latence, sans bug ou plantage ! Et en prime suivant les jeux, les temps de chargements sont non seulement meilleur mais j'ai vraiment la sensation d'avoir gagné en stabilité sur le frame rate (très notable sur BFV qui pouvait avoir de légère baisse avant mais que je ne remarque plus aujourd'hui !). Les + : - Facile à installer. - Hyper rapide pour installer un jeu à partir d'un HDD (transfère) pour exemple : 60 Go en moins de 8 minutes ! - Gain de stabilité, de réactivité etc sur une One X. - Au top ! Les - : - Capacité après installation de l'OS de la console de 350 Go (le reste est réservé au système) mais compensé par un HDD Externe de 8To dans mon cas (je ne met que les jeux auquel je joue fréquemment en multi et jeux à faire/finir en solo, une fois fait ou si je joue moins, je transfère vers HDD etc) mais ce défaut est juste propre au système de l'OS qui prend trop de place réservé. - Les prix, si 60 euro reste raisonnable ... j'espère quand même qu'on arrivera vite à avoir les 1TO SSD à ce tarif un jour ! Quand cela arrivera, je mettrais 1To dans ma One X et prendrai celui la pour mon PC portable ou de bureau ! Conclusion : Si vous cherchez un SSD pour le mettre dans votre machine (One X ou PS4 Pro, sachant que sur les PS4 c'est encore plus simple à faire ! Mais vous pouvez aussi pourquoi pas en mettre dans vos consoles standard ! ça ne pourra que leur faire du bien !) il est parfait !
