Would recommend lovely stories.
I love the Shirley Hughes books I bought this for my granddaughter as I thought she may enjoy it like my children did when they were small. Can only think as the books are still available that they have stood the test of time. Would recommend you try this author for your children. Good service from the seller prompt delivery.

A good addition to the series
Not my favourite of the series and one of the stories has biblical references which is different to all the others I have read. It made no difference to me but some may wish to avoid.

Quality checks need to be better
The name of a previous owner (teacher) was on the inside cover of the book. Not a deal breaker, but I would have liked to have been informed of this before purchasing.

Bent book
Book arrived in poor condition. You can see from the photo the book has been badly bent

A hidden bible story - fine if that’s what you’re looking for.
We love Shirley Hughes and the Alfie books BUT two things made this one a disappointment for us: firstly this book is significantly more difficult than the other Alfie books we know (“Alfie’s feet, Alfie gets in first, An evening at Alfie’s“ etc), so we will have to wait a while before our child can enjoy/understand it all. I guess that’s ok. The second issue won’t resolve with time: the first story in this book of two stories is actually just a hidden bible story (Adam & Eve/Garden of Eden etc). I guess this is fine if you’re Christian or want to read your children the creationist story but thats absolutely not what we were looking for. I was really annoyed that this was not made clear in the description of the book!

Wholesome and a treasure
Shirley Hughes is one of my favourite authors for children's books. My kids have grown up with these stories. They love the pictures, and the stories are so relatable they listen attentively. These stories have brought us memories of reading and cuddling together. Wholesome and a real treasure for the library.
