I applied the Purple Octopus Glow in the Dark Tape around the steps of a metal step stool used for public star parties, allowing children to reach the eyepiece of my telescope without mom or dad having to hold them up. The tape has stuck for six or seven years now, through the heat in my car, the cold of winter nights, the silty dust at a local campground, and getting banged around during packing and unpacking. People still comment on how well it glows, even though I do nothing special to expose it to light. I continue to be delighted by how attractive it is and the the safety it provides. (Attached is a glam shot of my telescope taken by one of our guests. The step stool is on the bottom left. The tape glows brighter as the night gets darker.) I only wish Purple Octopus made it in a 1/2" width so I could wrap it around the base of the telescope stand.

I bought this tape several months ago with the purpose of using it in a new 5th Wheel trailer. I wanted to be able to clearly see exactly where the edge of a small step near the foot of the bed is without having to turn on a light. This tape succeeded far beyond my highest expectations. It shows up very clearly at night without having to make a special effort to have bright light available during the day. It also is a thick, durable tape that doesn't get mangled simply by stepping on it. The tape has survived extremely hot and cold temperatures due to outdoor storage without affecting the stickiness or the brightness. To apply the tape, I cleaned the floor surface well and the tape has stuck exactly where I put it. The width of the tape and the brightness of the glow makes it very easy to see at night. It is easy to remove the tape if you decide it isn't where you want it. I highly recommend this product for anyone needing a glow-in-the-dark tape for any purpose.

I looked at reviews on other tape and wasn't impressed. I liked the reviews on this tape and willing to try it. I liked the adhesion and glow at night. The glow is not real bright but just bright enough to do the job. I put small pieces on the end of every light switch in every room. It works enough to see the switch. This is another way to see the switch other than installing lighted switches in, cheaper too. I put it on my TV remotes and house key. It comes with some arrows and stars. My wife said you are not putting the arrows on my light switches, too tacky. Lol You can't see the small tape on the ends! HAH!

To beat the heat, we play disc golf at night, we've tried discs manufactured with glow built into the plastic, and also some pentagon shaped glow decals that are marketed as being for night disc golf. Neither works very good...first of all traditional flashlights no matter how bright, don't charge up the glow that much, so we bought special UV flashlights that helped, but even then, they lose most of glow after 2 or 3 minutes, so after waiting for others to throw, your disc might not be glowing enough to locate it. This glow tape is fantastic. To test it, I charged up two different Factory glow discs, and a non-glow disc with two 4-in strips of this tape on it, with a UV flaahlight. I charged the tape strips with the light first so that the discs would be the last ones to receive their light charge..... I immediately took photos of all three discs in a totally dark closet, the two glow discs appear a pleasant glowing green color, whereas the disc with this glow tape on them, we're so bright they actually appeared white in the first photo. I waited 3 minutes it took a second photo, the glow tape was still very bright, where is the glow discs had faded almost completely. I played two rounds with this tape, it hits the ground hard it hits trees, which causes the disc to flex, so far the tape has not peeled off. You can believe it in there website when they say this is the best glow tape around!

I like the product enough that I continue to use it and it comes in handy- but the glowing part doesn't really work that well for me. Maybe to activate the glowing, it has to be subjected to direct sunlight for a period of time. Mine has some direct sunlight, but it is brief. The advantage to this tape for me is that it provides a light, raised surface for me to see in low light. The application I have used it for has dark, flush buttons that are hard to see/feel in low light conditions.

This tape is out of this world! The tape will stick to almost every dry surface even uneven surfaces. If this tape charges in the sun for a short amount of time, it will glow extremely bright for a long time. We used this tape to make some decorations for a room in our house and every night we are blown away by how bright this tape glows on the decoration. EXCELLENT product!

I don't even have to deliberately "charge" this tape, and if it just charges from the ambient light in the room, it is still visibly glowing 12 hours later. This is far better than any typical item from say 20+ years ago. The old stuff from back in the day would last only minutes. Be aware that this has a rather faint glow after 12 hours, but if you're in the dark with it you should be able to easily see it. I can, anyway, even tiny little bits I've cut and pasted to the wall like stars. In fact, it's a pretty economical way to create stars if you like tiny ones, because a foot of this tape can create hundreds and you still have the rest of the tape left over. One tip and possibly semi drawback is that it sticks really well and is basically permanent. It's hard to impossible to remove and tends to fall apart if you try to. I don't think this is a knock on the product per se because I don't think it's advertised as removable. However (and rather ironically) in some uses, I've found it best to use clear scotch tape to tape this down if I expect to later want to remove it.

I bought this tape to put it on the pet steps next to me bed. My dog seemed very hesitant to go down them in the dark. She would pace the bed until I got up and "guided" her down. I put multiple pieces on the sides of the steps and the steps themselves, and they perfectly show the "boundaries" so to speak of where she can step. While my dog still hesitates, it's nowhere near what it was before, and I think she's just cautious while going down them. I haven't made much effort to charge the tape, I just turn a light on near the steps for a little bit while I shower and get ready for bed, and the tape glows all night long. I would definitely recommend this tape to anyone!

I bought this tape to mark steps and other safety spots around buildings and our 4WD. It is extremely durable tape even when getting walked on all the time, and when "charged", it does glow brightly all night long. I am very impressed with this tape and most definitely recommend it for any nighttime safety spots.
