Review: Excellent Catfishing Reel — I’m Switching My Other Reels to These - I’ve been using the Piscifun Chaos XS 60 for catfishing and have been very impressed with it. I fish with heavy braid, large sinkers and cut bait, and I need a reel that I can depend on when a big catfish decides to take off. The Chaos XS 60 has been smooth, casts well, has plenty of line capacity, and the drag has performed exactly like I need it to. Most importantly, the levelwind has been reliable and I haven’t had to constantly mess with or repair anything. I own other round baitcasting reels in this price range, and after having repeated levelwind problems with one of them, I’ve decided to start replacing those reels with Chaos XS 60s. For the money, I think this is an excellent reel for catfishing. It has the capacity and strength I want without spending a fortune, and so far it has taken everything I’ve thrown at it. I already own more than one, and I plan on buying more. That probably says more than anything else I could put in a review.
Review: Great for the money - Love these reels. Smooth and cast for ever. I ordered the 50 after seeing it on youtube was not disappointed. Ordered another 50 and a 60. All 3 are excellent for the money

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Why choose this Chaos XS reel?**
A: Chaos XS is a round baitcasting reel for catfish, musky, bass, pike and inshore use. The metal frame, brass gears and 6+1 bearings help balance strength, smoothness and value.

**Q: Is it easy to cast without backlash?**
A: Yes, but tune the centrifugal brake and spool tension before fishing. Start with tighter settings, then loosen gradually to reduce backlash and improve casting distance.

**Q: Is the bait clicker loud enough?**
A: The clicker is useful for bait fishing and bite alerts, but it is not designed to be extremely loud. In wind or waves, keep visual line checks instead of relying only on sound.

**Q: Can I use braided line on this reel?**
A: Yes. For braid, add mono backing or tape before spooling, then wind the line on tightly. This helps prevent slipping and protects the line when heavy fish pull hard.

**Q: Which size should I choose?**
A: Choose 40/50/60 by target fish and line capacity. Size 60 gives more capacity and power, while 40/50 feel more compact for casting and easier palming.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice reel for this price point.
*by N***N on September 23, 2026*

This feels like a well made reel. I use it on puget sound to troll for salmon. I bought a second one and the drag has a refined resolution and I have landed a number of fish on these reels. Time will tell but this feels like a product that should cost more.
