They do constantly change but you have the option to stay on whatever seen you choose . This is the coolest feature to show on your house. Our house always looks like it's snowing at Christmas it's awesome.

can it be put on a usb?

According to AtmosFX you can download the winter wonderland to USB, I prefer the DVD. I love this decoration

Can this be used vertically or just horizontal?

The videos on this DVD are horizontal only but can still look great in a vertical window.

Does this use an sd card?

No, this is a dvd disk, but you could take files from the fish and put on SD card or you could download the file directly from Atmos
