The misses and I bought this for well That's none of your business but it was accurate, readable, durable, decent sized, easy to use and worth the money. It was accurate too. The durability is questionable but I haven't broke it yet

Plastic, but more durable.
I thought it would be glass like my Brix I ordered, but this is plastic. Never paid close attention to the description I guess. I had selected plastic for the graduated cylinder, maybe that selected plastic for both. I have a refractometer, and this reads close to the same when it was calibrated with distilled water. I have yet to try the hydrometer with distilled water....

Great for testing moonshine.
Check the proof of any alcohol that you are thinking of consuming. It runs from zero to 200 proof. It comes with a temperature adjusting chart depending on the temperature of the alcohol you are testing. Of course, when I said moonshine I meant the ones you can buy in a store with a tax stamp! I will point out if it has a tax stamp it is not moonshine but an advertising gimmick. But I never break the law
