Q: NAre your diapers TCF (total chlorine free) or ECF (elemental chlorine free)? There is no exact specification on the listing.

We understand this is an important distinction for many customers. Our products have been verified to have 0% Chlorine and we are in the process of undergoing additional 3rd party testing by an Internationally Accredited Laboratory. We understand the importance of being transparent about our ingredients. You can see all of our testing reports, including the Intertek Report that shows 0% Chlorine on the Transparency page on our website.

Q: Are these diapers TCF?

We know it seems like a simple question that should have a simple answer. We understand this is a hot topic for many customers and we want to be as transparent as possible about our ingredients. As our diapers are made in China, we are unfortunately at the “whims” of how the Chinese Government operates. All wood pulp for diaper manufacturing is imported, in our case from the US, but it’s done through a government authority, and Terra then buys from this entity for the production of our diapers. Terra requests that the wood pulp is TCF, but it is impossible to conclusively ascertain whether or not the pulp we receive is in fact TCF. We have had our diapers independently tested and they are confirmed to be chlorine free. You can see all of our testing certifications on the Terra Gentle Website under the transparency tab. You can see the information regarding no chlorine detected in our products on page 11 of the Intertek Report. However, since we haven't received proof that the pulp is TCF, we want to be completely upfront and therefore we will not make that claim without proof positive. We are working on trying to get full clarity on this issue.
