Works well for beginners
This is really good with building strength in your fret hand to help do chords. I haven’t used it long enough to tell if it builds callouses (or just damages the nerves in the finger tips so they don’t feel pain LoL!). After playing gtr over 40 years I finally took a break from jamming, turning 60 made me start thinking differently..the dream of being a rockstar is over, reality finally kicked in. After a year I decided to start playing again but my grip had gotten weak. This thing has the right amount of tension to re-train my grip so I think it’s good for beginners and those getting back into playing. But for gtr players (especially bass) who play on a regular basis you’ll want to get the version with 15 pounds of tension.

Callous Builder
I just opened this thing and I can feel the exact burn as fretting a guitar. I can’t speak to durability yet but I quit playing for a while and lost my callouses. I know practice is best but you can use this thing for hours while doing other tasks. I have big hands and can get all 4 fingers on this gadget although huge hands may be a problem. It is somewhat pricey but the best available unless you wanna carry your guitar with you all day.

I wish I would of had one of these years ago!
Why didn’t they have one of these years ago. I put down the guitar for over a decade. I decided to pick it back up. The most discouraging thing is having to build callouses. It takes a very long time to build callouses and if you play acoustic it is very hard to get to a full song level. That device allowed me to get rock star callouses in a matter of days. I never had callouses this fast and perfect. The only thing I wish is that they made it about a half inch wider. It would be nice if I could get all four fingers comfortably at the same time. But I can adapt. I can hit chords on my acoustic now and hold them forever and slide them if I want.

Seems to work for it's primary purpose
Seems to help maintain callus as described and is comfortable to hold. Useful to fidget with while I'm working on other things. Makes a slight creak as the plastic hinge wears. And the magnet on the back can't even hold it's own weight on a metal surface so that part is useless. Has not broken yet but curious how long it will last. For 20 bucks I expected a higher build quality.

Really works!
Update...one of them broke in less than two months. I messaged this seller and got a response the same day and a replacement, as promised, with days. 5 STAR service by this seller!!! After 30 years, I picked up my guitars again and, of course, my finger tips were killing me. Cruising Amazon for other stuff, I came across this callus builder. Skeptical, I got it and after about a month, have developed some excellent callus to get me started. Also, I can tell my hand strength has improved. It even makes a great chip clip for your snacks. I definitely recommend it.

a little small but work well
I recently started up playing guitar again after taking a hiatus for a couple years. Unfortunately, the calluses I built up long ago faded away. I bought this set of callus builders to see if I could accelerate the process of building up callus. I debated buying only the 15 lb. device but opted to pay a little more and buy the set of both the 8 lb. and 15 lb. devices. I’m glad I did. Both weights will strengthen your fingers and help build callus, but my 70 year old fingers found the lighter one easier to use, at least until I can build up more finger strength. But both are definitely helpful, and they’re easy to use while watching TV. My only complaint is these devices are somewhat small. I have to bunch my fingers up a little bit to fit all 4 fingertips on the device to build callus. It would have been better if these were about 1/4 inch wider. Overall, I’m pleased with these callus builders. They’re kind of expensive for glorified potato chip bag clips, but they work as advertised, and I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use out of them.

It works!
A great little tool to use when you can't play at the moment (on the bus, at work etc.). It really works if used correctly - squeeze with your fingertips the same way you press the strings. You don't need to press hard to get results. I prefer to actually do lots of light squeezes repeatedly. I can see huge improvement in the calluses buildup. It's small enough to keep in your gig bag / case, desk drawer or a backpack and ue it on the go. Mine started to make squeaky noises after a week or two - used a little bit of silicone grease around the spring ends (they rub against the rubber surface, which squeaks when used) and it's quiet again.

Great Quality and works great
Excellent little unit for building up callous’s on your fingers. I’ve played 50+ years and I wish I knew about this back then. Not too cheap but great quality and should last a lifetime
