Excellent beading surface, hinges a bit flaky ,doesn't open smoothly and separates when open, measuring tool flimsy but for the price very good and useful to transport WIP safely.

I bought one of these about 10 years ago & loved it. Couldn't find another one until I happened to see this on Amazon. I bought 3, two of the regular size & one Bead Buddy Junior. These are great for those times I don't finish a project, or am unsure of my design. I can close it up & save my work for another time. I always detach the lid - it gives me more room to work - try different colors, shapes & sizes. Always a good thing when as we all know a bead's natural habitat seems to be the floor. (It's Amazing how well those little rascals can hide - I sometimes find a bead that I know I haven't had out in months - even if I've vacuumed several times during the interim.) I will say it took me a while to figure out how to get it to open & close easily, but once I figured it out - no more problems. All-in-all, I'm very pleased with my Bead Buddy. Works perfectly!!

I specifically purchased this for an overseas trip that encompasses flights, probably delays, a cruise, and quiet evenings in our hotel, as we will be away for over three weeks. It looks like the perfect size as I have a couple of Peyote bracelet projects lined up. I like the fact that the hinge separates, giving me versitility with the size I want to work with and both sides have a bead mat. That means I am not restricted to small projects afterwards. Using a compact thread cutter will resolve problems travelling without scissors​. At least now I can have something to keep me occupied, that can quickly be closed up and popped away. Fantastic for those of us who like to have something to do with our hands. Especially now security is a problem travelling with crochet or knitting.

This works wonderfully for keeping my seed bead piles in place. I generally bead on the couch, and we have 3 cats. Previously every time a cat jumped up anywhere my bead project, things would go flying, wasting lots of beading time searching for spare beads between couch cushions and trying to find tiny, clear beads in a moderately thick carpet. It's easily and quickly closed (such as when a cat shows its face and prepares launch itself at my stash). It also keeps basic patterns I've designed in place if I want to change locations. My only complaint is that the plastic hinges tend to separate too easily, thus I have to hold them in place when I open or close the tray.

I have purchased a similar product at a local brick and mortar store ... it works great. I wanted a second one, but could no longer find one at a local retail store, so I turned to Amazon. I was excited about the BeadBuddy Junior, but I am VERY disappointed in the construction. First, the plastic tabs that are meant to lock the sides of the BeadBuddy together when closed will NOT stay clasped (so I've had bead explosions several times now :( ). Secondly, the material inside the product which is meant to hold your beads in place (they shouldn't roll around when the two sides of the product are locked together) ... does NOT work. The material is set slightly too deeply into either side of the product, so beads DEFINITELY move around. I had to put another piece of beading mat INSIDE the BeadBuddy to achieve the correct spacing to keep the beads from moving around. Unfortunately, the packaging and shipping box got tossed before I had discovered all this, or I would have returned it. I would have been willing to try another one, as I may have just gotten a lemon ... but I suppose I'll never know. Back to extra beading mats and rubber bands :(
