Great information for high school football coaches
I have coached high school football in North Carolina for over 40 years. I am always looking at the next new way of obtaining an advantage for my players. We are a small rural high school. So I read this book and then immediately bought 3 more copies to give to my staff. We have incorporated many of these ideas into our strength and conditioning program. Great buy if you coach football or are training as a player!! Coach David H. Diamont, East Surry High School, Pilot Mountain, NC

Although designed for off season football workouts, business executives or housewives can use it to get back in shape.
As I was first scanning the exercises in the book before settling down to read it thouroughly, I was looking for my favorites to see if they were in it and also what I considered to be pretty much time wasters to see if they cluttered it with a waste of space. Some of my very favorites weren't in it and I wondered why at first. Then I got into it and the book is designed not just for packing on the maximum amount of muscle possible during the off season but for developing other attributes. You will develop endurance, flexibilit, explosive speed, balance and so on if you follow his outline. It doesn't matter if you are recovering from an injury or just bored with the usual weight room routine during the season. This Next Generation list of routines and exercises should help you achieve your goal. You can set up a work out area in your back yard or basement. That's the beauty of it. You don't have to go to a gym if you don't want to.Finally, women shouldn't be afraid of bulking up if you do this training course. Your body just doesn't produce the amount of hormones that would turn you into an offensive lineman look-alike. So get in shape, and I mean real strength shape and not just malnourished skinny shape.I'd say his goal of creating a new training system was Mission Accomplished.

From front to back, it is packed with exercises for a 12 week training stretch
Abdul Foster's "Next Generation Football Training: Off-Season Workouts Used by Today's NFL Stars to Build Pro Athlete Strength and Give Your Team the Competitive Edge" is a straight-to-the-point training book. There is little padding in this book. Mr Foster is clear and succinct from the brief introduction to the final week 12. It is exactly what the title and subtitle of the book advertises. There are clear illustrations for the exercises that run through 12 week workout.I have two young men in the family who are in high school football and want to continue into college even if a walk-on so they love this book. The only minor criticism that they had was that they wished there was a little bit on nutrition but they understood that the focus was on the workout so it was more observation than criticism. Otherwise, it is a great book for the serious athlete.

A Impactful Training Manual for Football Players
This football training regimen aims to help committed football players take their game to the next level of their career and performance. The objective is to increase performance through improving strength, muscle mass and endurance. Foster has developed this system through his own studies, practice and feedback. He has trained several NFL players including his star brother Arian Foster. He owns his own gym called Nine Innovations in Houston. This book offers his system to football players anywhere, but it is for committed players with great ambitions and discipline. The workouts are methodical and comprehensive. They include warm up exercises and stretching exercises as well as strength training. At the beginning of the book, there is a list of equipment needed to follow the regimen, and it includes myriad resources one needs to follow this fully. With the equipment needs and space in mind, this is a training program that any athlete could follow and benefit from. I think athletes from other sports could also follow this with some amendments for sports specific drills. This program shows the processes and types of exercises that are conducive to improved performance. It will definitely take some repetitions through the exercises until the athlete can complete them without referencing the book and pictures. I think that is what readers will just need to accept -- that to follow this program you will have to reference the book often during the workout. But it takes you through each workout, each day of the 12-week period. I think most readers will have the instructions they need to complete each task. The book is very well done. It is not as good as having the author beside you, but it is the best that can be done, I think, in print.

Not just for football training
I do weight-training in the gym 5 days a week and for 2 years of my life I was a full-time certified trainer. I am always looking for new ways to build strength and train in a smarter way. I love learning new exercises or new ways to challenge my muscles. This is the best training book that I have read since Arnold Schwarzenegger wrote his very extensive book on fitness and training. This book takes the favorite work-out routines different pro-football players and combines them into a progressive week by week training guide that will take you from beginning exercises to more progressive and advanced exercises. This book has something for everyone. I do not necessarily follow each day and week exactly as it is laid out, but I take something to add to my routine every day. This book is not just for football players. It is for anyone that wants to get in shape and add some interest to their exercise program. Highly recommend!

Definitely Worth A Look
I do the workouts with my son. He loves doing them. Anyone can do these workouts and I've found they yield results fairly quickly. Definitely worth a purchase if you're interested.

This is a great book. The instructions are very clear and the pictures are excellent. It is a very thorough program that takes you through periodization. It would be a good guide for training in general with just a few tweaks.
