I am an embroidery hobbyist, but I have been coveting a multi-needle machine since I began over 10 years ago. I chose the Smartstitch s1501 because of all of the reviews that mentioned excellent customer support, and that was something I felt I might need. Let me say: This machine is a beast! It took a bit of time to get everything set up, and there are some things I don’t like, such as thread getting caught when it comes off of the spool, but I think I’ve got that under control now. There is definitely a learning curve, so, as with any embroidery machine, expect some projects to fail before you figure it all out. Things I don’t like: 1. no automatic threading (is this a thing? COULD it be a thing?) 2. Thread tangling coming off of the spool and catching with another thread. 3. No indicator when the bobbin is low Things I love: 1. the size potential of the designs 2. The stitch quality 3. Not having to change colors As I’m doing projects, I have to keep reminding myself that this is a commercial machine that is designed to do multiples of the same design, so if I have multiple projects with lots of different thread colors, it does take a while to switch out the colors to restart a project. I’ve had it for a little over a month now, and I am still a bit intimidated by it, but I’ve made some really great items to give as gifts with it.

Love my machine and the instructor it comes with!! Definitely worth the investment!
