My husband is an avid trout fisherman and he is constantly losing his plyers. Worse, he uses his TEETH all the time to cut the line when needed. I wanted to get him these because they have the holster and can clip to whatever he is wearing so he doesn't leave them on the ground and lose (another) pair. These are heavy, sturdy, well made but need a few tweaks with the design. He likes that they can cut, crimp and remove the hooks easily. What he didn't like is they don't keep closed unless you keep them in the holster. They need a little locking lever! He liked the idea of the holster but rarely uses it, especially in the summertime when he is wearing shorts and doesn't have a belt loop to clip the holster to. They have a nice rubber grip so his hands don't slip. These are decent for the price.

This is my second pair of fishing pliers. My other is aluminum, lighter, and has a locking mechanism. I was intrigued by this one since it's made from steel, but now that I'm holding it I feel the extra weight but not really seeing the need for the extra strength. As long as the protective teflon coating stays on, it should be fine. But I worry since I'm using it in a salty environment. And it will only stay closed when it's in the holster, so laying it around will leave sharp edges exposed.It does function well and it is very comfortable because of the squishy grips. The price is also quite reasonable. But I expect I'll primarily use the aluminum pair and let companions use this one.

The plier itself is top notch, the material is good and the nose is long and grippy, perfect for rigging and removing stubborn hooks. I would say these are much better than the 10 dollar pliers you pick up in the checkout lane but a little worse than the top of the line ones.My number one beef with these pliers is that they do not have a mechanism to lock the pliers in the closed position. The effectively makes it impossible to carry them in a pocket or bag without the holster. The holster is fine but wearing a big chunk of plastic on my hip all day is not my idea of a good time. Secondly, the line cutter is on the side of the jaw, if you have wet hands or a fish jumping around on that line it’s going to be hard to line up this side mount line cutter. Normal line cutters that are in the jaw have a the mouth of the pliers to help guide the line into the cutter. With these you just have to get lucky

Love these players, and the multiple uses for them while you’re out fishing. However, the line cutting feature is very close to the grip that pinched my hand in numerous times.

These are excellent well made fishing pliers. They are comfortable have a nice holster and would a great addition to any fisher person’s tackle box. However if you purchase these for a neophyte fisher person there are no instructions as to how you can use these excellent pliers

So got these expecting them to be made fairly cheap. I was totally wrong. They are made extremely well. High quality and work great. Even the holster is made well. Very happy with these!

First impressions when opening the box were that these pliers are well made. The plastic grips are comfortable and easy to hold. The included belt sheath is sturdy and includes a locking belt clip as well as a lanyard. The serrated teeth in the plier jaws mesh perfectly, and the cutting blades are sharp. The only complaint that I've been able to find is that the locking belt clip does not reliably keep the sheath on my belt. On many occasions, when I've pulled the pliers out, the clip released from my belt. I've minimized this from happening by applying a bit of wax to the inside of the sheath so that the pliers will slide in/out with less friction. This is a simple fix and thus far has made a big difference in reducing how often the sheath unlocks from my belt. As I primarily use these in a salt water environment, the products this is constructed from should eliminate the corrosion that I've always fought with other metal pliers. These have become the main must have tool in my tackle box. Overall, I'm very pleased and would highly recommend them.

They work great, Small Mouth, Largemouth, Blue Back, Rainbows, Northern Pike, Cutthroat. No issues with them, long needle noses to keep fingers away from those teeth, especially the northern pike. The only issue I had was it does take some time to loosen them up for pulling them out of the sheath. the sheath being more rubber than plastic helps with it not ever breaking. No issues with the cutters either, was cutting braided lines with it. Nice rubber grips help to keep the pliers from slipping out of your hands. Especially if you are fly fishing or on the edge of the boat and oops (dang). Though the lanyard is a nice touch I removed mine because I found it got in the way half the time. Overall, a nice tackle box pliers to take with you, either on the boat or river.
