Excellent low cost way to add cover from the elements.
These awnings are fantastic. Very strong and stable i put them up just about a month ago, and in that time they've survived rain, high winds, hail, and a freak snow storm that dropped several feet! The awnings handled it all with ease and never budged.Installation was a little tricky. Partially because of the house, and partly because these are a bit awkward to handle due to their size. A second person is highly advised. Also, mark and predrill each set of holes for each panel. There seems to be about 0.25 inch of variation in the bracket to bracket spacing. The panels look wonderful once installed. I've had two neighbors, whom I had not met previously, come by to ask where I bought them.I did not use the provided hardware to attach the brackets to the house. Instead, I purchased 3" stainless lag bolts and galvanized washers from the hardware store. I predrilled the holes as mentioned, and sqeezed some outdoor caulking into the holes before using an impact driver to secure the bolts.Be careful with the small screws that hold the frame together. They don't give you extra, so be sure not to drop one in the lawn. Also, I was using a powered driver for the screws as well and sheered of one of the heads. So, use caution and finesse.I hope you have as much luck with these as I did! I only wish I had installed them sooner.

Amazing
I was having problems with water coming into my windowsill, such as it typically would when winter would hit and it would downpour with wind. water would come and seep in through the screen on my window and start filling the windowsill. only on two of my windows in particular, that have no protection from roof overhang. I noticed on a few of my other windows that there were these older awnings that seem to keep the water and wind away from the windows. I ordered this and hoped that it would do the same thing for the window that was causing me problems; this thing is just been amazing. We've had feet of snow and it's withheld from the snow, never lifted off of the house from the crazy winds, and it keeps all the rain off of the window. I can't wait to see what it does during the summer- time for heat in that bedroom. Definitely a great buy and I will be ordering again for a few other problem areas on the house, that need some protection from the elements.UPDATE:This awning helped tremendously during the summer, keeping the room a nice comfortable temperature. My house is in the sun's path 90% of the day, no shade surrounding the house. The room was warm, but not unbearable..previous years were terrible.I highly recommend this item, easy to install and very reasonable price.

Worked great, but I hope they last!
Bought these for my front and rear doors. I caulked the canopy pieces with silicone acrylic caulk when assembling, and painted the plastic frame of the canopies with white spray paint designed for plastic. It looks better and should protect the plastic from UV degradation. I mounted them on well-stained 3/4" exterior plywood which I first mounted over vinyl siding with 4" desk screws into the studs. The bottom of the plywood rests on the rigid vinyl trim at the top of the door, and the top rests on the high point of the siding, with a foam strip for cushioning. At the top back of the plywood, I mounted a 1-1/2" wide aluminum angle to act as a drip edge, protecting the top edge of the plywood and making it more rigid. The deck screws are only minimally tightened on the top foam strip, to avoid stress to the vinyl siding. The weight of the canopy pulls on the top screws and pushes down on the bottom door frame trim. I used foam filler strips and caulked at the top and sides to seal the gaps from rain and bugs. On my front door, I had to angle the plywood, so the canopy would tip up slightly, to allow for open storm door clearance (there was limited room above the door to mount the canopy higher for clearance). It took a lot of planning to mount these on vinyl, but they look great - just hope they hold up with some snow weight, before I get to brush them off.UPDATE: Seven years later in upstate NY, they survived the sun and snow, but the clear panels have crumbled (cracked several years ago). Since the frames were still good, I used Suntuf polycarbonate corrugated panels to replace the original panels, adding a bent 1/8" x 2" aluminum curved support down middle, running corrugations width wise and screwing down every other corrugation with black SS self tapping screws. The Suntuf should last, as long as the painted frame lasts, as long as I brush off heavy snows like I have been. Just hoping for no unusually high wind gusts.

Looks nice
These really made a difference. Anytime it would rain our floors would get wet or we had to shut the doors. Now we can leave them open during a rainstorm. They are clear so it doesn't block out the sunlight. They made it through the winter with snow on them, so they seem pretty sturdy. Assembly wasn't very difficult, but you may need 2 people to put them up.

5 stars so far!
As many of the reviews indicate, it can be a bit frustrating trying to marry up half a dozen or so parts that can go in ONE way, but not very intuitive how to. . . .Anyway, once you get past that, it appears to be a wonderful product. It's lightweight, yet sturdy. I hung them each outside of my patio door. This is the patio that was sold by Sears in the 1950's and is a combination of foam and very thin sheet metal. This is perfect to hang above the doors to keep the rain away from the entry way, and also from coming in when the door is open! Will see how it holds up to winds. As mentioned, the included screws may not work for you. I bought 5/16 three inch screws with washers and nuts for my application.

Very flimsy product - you have to pay your own shipping to return it
Buyer be aware: If you want to buy a solid product, this is not the one. In case you don't like the quality of the product, you have to pay shipping yourself to return it.This awning is a very flimsy product, the cover is extremely light. The dimension of the awning described in the amazon page is inconsistent. The product title says 40x40, in product details it says 39.4x39.4, the overall dimension says 78 3/4x39 3/8. The awning is poorly packed. I opened the box immediately after the delivery and in disbelieve of the quality after I saw the parts. I decided to return it without unpacking. The return label the company provided is a joke. I felt like it is a scam. I want to UPS, USPS and an Amazon return center, no body will take their return label. I ended up paying more than $38 shipping myself to return this package. The company's warehouse is less than 2-hour drive from my home. If you are not living in southern California, it will cost you a lot more to ship back the package.Do not buy this awning unless you have 100% certainty that you like it and will not return the product. Otherwise, you will end up paying the return shipping without any product.

You need 2 people to assemble and it can easily fall apart during installation - but it works
First of all - I thought that the support brackets were made out of metal - but they are plastic. OK - I guess for this price that is what you get - however they seem fairly sturdy. You will need 2 people to assemble this and make sure you set every screw securely. We had to add an additional screw (and drilled a hole to to it) in the middle where the 2 sections attach because they was nothing there to attach the two sides together. When we went to install it - the whole thing fell apart. We reassembled and drilled out every screw attachment point and used better screws. Now the whole thing stable. We pre-market every hole in the wall and put in wall anchors (lag bolt type). We had to do it this way because the 3" screws provided are too short. We used 5" lag bolts.Be careful when you lift it up and make sure you are supporting the whole thing with 2 people ( it is super light ) - because if you don't - the canopy will fold like a pretzel. Once attached to the wall - it is sturdy.I suggest adding a bead of clear silicone caulk on the side that touches the wall to keep it from leaking there (there is a gap) and to also provide more stability because this attached the whole back edge to the wall - making it much more rigid.Overall we are happy with it - you just need to be careful when assembling and installing it as it can easily fold and be destroyed if you are not careful.

Check local zoning & building regs prior to purchasing and installing this or any similar item.
I like the product. I hope it will attract would be home buyer. My goal was to have an overhang over my front door to protect against rain while entering my home without major construction of a front porch roof. I have accomplished you that. The drawback is, it's not as wide as it should have been. That was my fault. As per other reviews, product was not meant to be installed over flexible siding, i e vinyl siding. The product was shipped with these oversized masonry bolts. LOL! The product is plastic and would have broken way before the bolts would have pulled out of any Masonry structure. I had to manipulate the vinyl siding on my house and make wooden brackets to fasten them to the wood frame of the house and then fastened the plastic arms of the awning to the wood brackets. The task took some time about 4 hours but fortunately I have a woodworking shop and then capable of performing the installation. I'm considering buying others for the front windows of my home to match has that are reasonably priced, attractive, and do provide some sun shading to my home as I do not have trees to help shade my house. So far so good, will have to post a new review when I get snow on it. I recommend it.

Error en instrucciones
Aunque me lo vendieron como doble, la verdad es que vienen dos individuales, para armarlo doble debe aplicarse el ingenio del instalador porque es difícil empalmarlos para integrar los dos en uno solo

Product arrived damaged with no instructions
*****Update******Good customer service and smooth return. Might give it another shot soon. Not many awnings have weight rating specified under product info. we r in snow country and 30+lb/m2 is a must.*****Original Review****Both roof panels are damaged with big dents. Products are poorly packaged and there are no instructions in the box. The contractor is scheduled to come in tomorrow. Now I need to find a last minute replacement, sigh... Very inconvenient. Very disappointed. Will update return & refund experience soon.
