Men's Eco-Drive Garrison 42mm Stainless Steel BM8478-01L

Purchased this watch last year and am very satisfied with its appearance, never needing new battery (powered by light), comfortable to wear, and comfortable warch band. I’d give this watch a 95% rating as the initial instructions on setting the watch were a bit confusing, but apart from that I couldn’t be more pleased😌 Also felt the price point for this level of quality watch was quite reasonable.

This has been my every day watch for about a year. It is a very legible and good looking watch. The time accuracy is good for the price as well. I’ve had to adjust the time maybe 3 times since I’ve had it. It even held up to the shock and vibration of going to the shooting range and shooting 12 gauge double ought buckshot. The crystal did scratch when I hit a metal door frame but it’s not very deep. The leather strap has stretched and will need to be replaced. Overall can’t complain much. Pick this up before they’re gone since citizen discontinued this watch

Wife gave me this watch for our wedding anniversary, best watch I ever owned. The eco drive is great no batteries needed. Highly recommend

I picked up this watch because I wanted something that looked nice, wasn’t too flashy, and I wouldn’t have to worry about getting it banged up at work. The leather was a little stiff out of the box, but after 2-3 days of wearing it, it broke it nicely and is now very comfortable. It is also very simple and easy to adjust the time/date. I’d recommend setting the day in the morning. The only “issue” I have with the watch is that the second loop that holds the excess strap is a little loose and sometimes slips. So I have to move the loop back every once in a while. Overall, it’s a solid watch for everyday use if you’re looking for something that’s simple, and not too flashy.

The quality is fantastic and the band is comfortable. Face size is just right, visible without being huge. Easy to set and no issues with time. While typing review he said add that he loves it.

This watch is really good. I wanted a watch with large numbers so I could see them. This one checks that point. I also wanted a watch that had a dial and numbers that glow in the dark. This does that too. Some watches only have the hands that glow, but this one has numbers that you can see in the dark. The one thing that is a slight disappointment is the day/date. It is sunken in the watch and really can't be seen very well. Setting the time was easy with the knob that pops out. 42mm is a good size for my wrist, so it looks good. The dial is a dark blue which also looks good. The band is still a little stiff, but that will adjust the longer I wear it. I feel that this was a great buy and recommend it to others looking for a good watch.

Large watch with large, easy to read numbers. It’s an Eco-Drive, so it doesn’t need batteries as long as it’s exposed to sufficient light. My first Eco-Drive Citizen watch is still functioning perfectly after 11 years.

It's a very nice-looking watch—the best looking of its type I've seen so far—and no doubt the build quality and accuracy are very good. The solar feature is certainly great and especially so because it can apparently hold charge for as long as 6 months. I'm sure it deserves a 5 rating for overall quality. But I'm giving it 3 for the following reasons. It's been a struggle to get the crown into the position for changing days of week and month. Kind of frustrating. They supply the watch with the worst band I've ever used. Completely annoying and judging by the look of how it is fitted to the watch, it'll be no fun to work with if you need to replace it. It's surprising that Citizen didn't do a better job with its documentation. For example, you have to read an identifying number off the back of the watch or the little paper tag that comes with it, then retype the information into a web form. It's 2023—why not include a QR code in the package, pointing straight at the correct documentation? How hard would that be? Unless you read extra carefully, you don't realize what's required to ensure the watch "understands" AM versus PM so that the date information changes correctly. You also don't see immediately that they do not recommend setting the date information during certain hours of the day. That alone should be up front and in boldface, but it isn't. There are several ways to get documentation for this watch and not all of them provide information about it in a consistent way. There is the occasional slightly clumsy phrasing, possibly due to a translation error. The documentation definitely needs work. Wanted to like it, but alas.
