Surprise - It does work to a certain extent.
My significant other was skeptical when I purchased this. Then my significant other was surprised it worked as well as it did for the price. This is a random direction machine that changes direction when it meets resistance. It is not programmable and is manually turned on and off by the user. It is easy to use. After a week of use, we find this works pretty well for dusting hardwood floors. It picks up cat hair fairly well. It does collect dirt too. However, don't expect it to pickup loose pieces of kitty litter. It shoves them around to corners. You will still occasionally need to vacuum your floors, particularly the edges/corners, but not quite as often. Our cats are older and seem to tolerate the movement of the Robomop w/o scaring them. After purchasing this I went to Robomop's (formerly Robomaid) website and discovered there is a newer version of the Allegro being introduced - Allegro Energy+. It appears to the be the same as this model but with a stronger rechargeable battery. The new version has a longer working time of 3 hours over the 1.2 hours of this version.I suspect this is just the result of a replacement battery. I can't tell if there is anything else different but for the color of the unit.As of 09/23/17, this newer version does not appear on Amazon.Robomop is supposedly brining out a wet type of product in the fall of 2017.Not sure if the randomness of this dusting machine will translate well to a wet version. It might be worth a try if the price is right. The dusting skirt that does the dirty work is removable (velcro attached) so it can be washed. You are probably going to want another skirt. You can buy the same or make your own skirts out of micro-fiber cloth cut into a similar ring shape using the original as a guide. It may not be as stiff as the original but it still seems to work.******* UPDATE AFTER Months *****My wife liked it at first but does not use it much anymore. This robomop tends to push dirt/hair to the edges of the room where you will likely need to vacuum it up.

Gets into all the nooks and crannies and then some!
Works great. My only complaint is that only one reusable "mop" is provided and none are available except from England at an inflated price. Disposables are available but they don't seem to work as well. I would buy two of these except one covers my 2600 sq ft home just fine.

Works well, with advantages and disadvantages compared with O-Cedar duster
I bought this because it seems the O-Cedar duster has been discontinued. (Mine had stopped working after a year and half, but I would have been happy to buy another.) At $39.99 for a used O-Cedar, I figured I'd try this robomop. While I think the O-Cedar does clean slightly better, and seems more sturdy and just nice aesthetically (the O-Cedar kind of waltzes through the room, whereas the robomop kind of spastically jerks around), the robomop has some definite advantages. A brilliantly simply design (just a ball rolling around inside a cage) means no moving parts in contact with long hair-- that means not having to periodically cut out long hair that has gotten wrapped around axles. Also, this one dosen't get stuck as easy as the O-Cedar. Finally-- and this is a big advantage-- it takes AA batteries (one AA battery, to be specific). The unit itself functions as a recharger for the AA battery, so you can use it and then plug it in to recharge (USB only included; you will need to have your own plug or use a computer, etc.). However, if you use rechargeable AAs like I do, you have a constantly rotating supply in the house. All of my rechargeable AAs work in the robomop. That means that when the robomop runs out of charge, I can simply replace the battery with a charged one and pop the depleted one in the charger. So, theoretically, no down time for the robomop as long as I'm around. That is the biggest plus, I would say. The robomop does work with O-Cedar refills if you have them lying around.

Works. Cat likes it, too.
I legitimately don't know what model I was sent when I bought this (I probably shouldn't have tossed the box). The ball isn't green -- it's grey; the frame isn't green -- it's grey. The cloth, though: green. When I try to figure out what product this is, it may actually be the Robomop Allegro Energy+ -- but with the green cloth of the Allegro.I'm not complaining -- whatever it is, it works. It has limitations, sure -- by, my goodness, this thing can pick up cat hair. IF you have all hard floors, IF you have a big fluffy cat, and IF you hate dusting, buy this thing. It picks up a ton of fur and a reasonable amount of other dirt. (I just caught it sweeping a stray toothpick around the floor.) Yes, you do end up with bits of dirt gathered around table and chair legs, but that is much better a floor covered in fur. This is how well it works: I stop it in the middle of a run to clean off the cloth and then set it off again. Two cheats you should be aware of: 1. I wanted to test it out immediately upon purchase, so rather than using the included rechargeable battery, I just shoved a standard AA in that thing. Worked fine, but when you're on a regular battery, you've got to remember to chase down the unit and stop it. 2. I have a bunch of microfiber towels/rags. Used the included cloth as a template and cut myself a spare. Works slightly less well than the original, but it gets things done in a pinch.I dropped a star because this isn't an ideal duster; it's very cheap and it has limitations based on what was clearly an effort to keep the price down (like, for example, no light to show you that it's charging; and no timer). But FOR A very cheap duster, it is ideal.

Top Houseworking Gadge - cant fault that
This is the absolute bees knees. I've had it 5 mins and it's done more dusting of the floor than I have in the past year. The cloth already looks like it could do with a wash but I'm going to let it run for a bit more to clean the room. On laminate flooring it has no trouble with obstacles, wires under the TV unit. I thought the cloth got snagged running past a chair but it senses it's stuck and jolts and frees itself. It won't work on my kitchen floor which is coarse and the cloth grips it. I'd imagine this would work on any hard surface that a duster or micro fiber cloth as this is would glide over.It says charge the rechargeable battery for 6 hours before first use. I put in a spare AA battery and got to it straight away. Can't say yet how long either will last.I'm pleased as punch with this and really disappointed my upstairs are carpeted.

Shocked and Pleasantly Surprised
Ok...let's be honest, I was too cheap to buy a "roomba" and the knock off brands looked like a joke but something that will potentially grab some dust for under 20 quid? Sure, why not. I've used this a few times now and it ACTUALLY WORKS! I have laminate floors that get super dusty and often and this "wacky ball" inside a piece of lightweight plastic with a flimsy piece of fabric picks up a ton of bunnies! It's silly and it isn't going to wash your floors but it's great for keeping the floors a bit more dust-free between deep cleanings (and it's shockingly smaller than it looks so it gets under things as well). Again keep your expectations real and this will exceed 'em.

It works!
Daft as it looks, it works!. Charge it up, Start it off and go out and do your shopping or whatever. When you come back, your floor is dust free. So pleased, I've ordered another one.

Unreliable.
When it works, it’s great. However, very unreliable. 4/5 times it’s left to charge for 4+ hours and the battery is dead. You never know if it’s going to work or not. Very disappointing when you want to rely on that quick dust happening while you’re doing something else.It is inexpensive but you expect it to work more than a few times before failing.

Great floor duster.
Excellent piece of kit for dusting floors at a reasonable price.
