They are coated and I use metal hangers and the finish has not started peeling or scratching off.

They are removable and they thread on so they hold up very well.

Q: Can the clothing rack be used in a commercial setting like a retail store?

I own a small home based boutique and I wanted to utilize my small space and these were perfect! They hold a ton of weight and also come with all the hardware to attach to the wall without worrying about studs in the wall.
