ALTRAMen's AL0A7R6P Olympus 5 Trail Running Shoe, Black/Grey, 11

For someone who has flat feet and enjoys a wide toe box, this shoe delivers. After running over 300 miles in these shoes and a 50 mile ultra on top of that I can easily give this shoe a 5 star rating. The shoe offers the perfect amount of cushion while still employing the joy of a zero drop shoe. The front end of the shoe offers great protection from the dreaded roots on trail runs and despite some heal slippage, I have never ended a run with blisters or any discomfort in the heel area. I tend to run with the laces a bit loose to prevent bruising on the top of my feet as they swell on long runs. Great shoe that delivers!

I've been wearing Altra's daily for years, primarily various iterations of the Lone Peak mid (boot) or regular (shoe). I wanted something with more padding for walking/running over small rocks. The Olympus 5 is supposedly "original foot shape" like the Lone Peak, but to me feels like a tighter/stiffer shoe, and it feels like the stack height was not just thickened, but built up into the shoe. This shoe comes up the ankle at least half an inch less than the Lone Peak shoe. The included laces are not long enough for heel-lock lacing. Even with longer laces and heel-lock lacing, the result was an uncomfortably tight shoe that slips at the heal when walking.

Very comfortable and well-made withsubstantial cushion for your feet. Almost no break in time get one size up from your shoe size.

After waiting for a month for these shoes I tried them for about 3 weeks now and man do they hurt my feet. They rub me raw on top of my foot near my ankle. Not sure if its the tongue for its paper thin so no cushion at all. I have tried to loosen the shoe strings, that didn't work. Heck even my big toe hurts smh. I am more comfortable with the grip of the sole but that it. That's the only reason i gave it a 2 star. If I could return them for a refund I would in a heart beat.
