The paint that comes with the kit is appropriate to color the rocks, but you will need to wait a whole day for the paint to dry. It does however dries shiny so you don't need to add top shiny coat and it is easy to mix colors. The brush is on the cheap end. If you are just using the brush for simple coloring it should be fine but might want to use different brush for more detailed complicated designs. I did like that the kit came with marker and pre-cut shapes so you can easily decorate your pet rock without having to do a separate trip to the craft store.I got 4 rocks, however only 2 of them were really good to use for a pet rock project. Other 2 was really weird shape and they had a lot of holes in them. The kit is good but don't expect to get the full potential.

My kids loved it. The added feathers to make into animals definitely made it even better.

Great kit! Got for my 5 year old son for Christmas and he shared with his 7 year old sister. They loved painting the rocks so much I just ordered another kit for them. Rocks are polished so the paint goes on smooth. Comes with cute extras to decorate your rocks with.

Grandkids loved this! They made magnets for great-grand-parents who thought they were adorable.
