If you need a *real* home plate... this is the one for you! What I mean by that is this isn't something you are just going to slap down in your yard only to pick it up when you are done. This plate gets anchored into the ground.Notes-- Rubberized top but an actual steel plate underneath. The plate weighs probably 15lbs... it isn't one of those foam jobs that you use in your backyard for pitching practice. It is very weld made and there are no obvious durability flaws.- anchors into the ground. The bottom of the steel plate has a square tube that fastens/snchors into the ground. I suppose you could hammer it into your soft grass of your backyard... but that is not the purpose.- As a home plate... it functions perfectly as a home plate...but again.. it is designed for ballpark/field use and not for occasional use in the backyard

This is extremely well made and sturdy, which I had hoped when ordering due to the price. We have gone through a few rubber base sets at this point and my son still loves to set up baseball diamonds to practice outside. I decided it was time to invest in something that would last. These fit the bill. They are more permanent, so we had to set up an area in the yard for baseball. They have held up well through various weather situations. Definitely an investment, but if you are all in on baseball or need them for an actual league, these are a great option.
