Good electrolyte from a trusted brand. Good flavor.
Since I have POTS I am well versed on electrolytes and have tried several different kinds. I take SaltStick salt caplets daily to help control my symptoms, and they work well. I know this company has a history of electrolyte research and success. So I trust this brand's electrolytes. At 420 mg sodium per serving, it's a little less than what I prefer, but it's not an insignificant amount, either. It does make me feel better/more hydrated and improves my symptoms.I like the flavor of this one (the lemon lime) better than any other brand I've tried. It doesn't just taste like watered down sports drink like the others do. I mix with 16 oz distilled water. The powder dissolves pretty well. The citric acid feels less "sharp" to me than most, which is good, though it still has a really nice tartness to it. The sweetness is just right, too, though it's got low sugar, which is also nice. And the ingredients are good. It's currently nearly 50 cents per serving more expensive than my usual brand. But I like this one quite a bit and I will be keeping a box of it on hand for days when I need an extra boost or get tired of my usual one. Five stars!

Stomach Pain
The product was to be used to raise my blood pressure. The acidity of the mixture caused me to get an inflamed stomach. If you have a stomach that tends to get gastritis or you get acid reflux this may cause you issues. This is not meant to be overly negative-most people will probably not have my particle reaction.

Disappointingly Sweetened
Disclosure: This was sent to me for free via the Vine program. I did not receive monetary compensation to write this review, just the product itself. My life has been made a living hell thanks to a brand new infection that's set in and boy oh boy is it just not happy with me conducting my life. Every day I'm slam-jamming water like I'm trying to put out a fire in my stomach that just won't quench just to keep my kidneys from going absolutely kaput. It's been making doing reviews difficult but I persevere. For you, my readers. I've been pairing the water with a lot of electrolyte solution (Oral Rehydration Solution or ORS) and I remembered that I had a SaltStick brand ORS waiting for me to review so I thought I'd give it a shot.It comes in a box that can be opened normally or folded and torn on dotted lights to make, like, a shelf-stand for a store, which I naturally do as it entertains me greatly. Inside is a 12 count of lemon-lime sticks. Recommended dilution is one stick into 16-20 oz., depending on personal preference. I mixed a stick of this into 16.9 oz of Poland Spring, fresh from an opened bottle, gave it a shake, and then it went down the hatch. Immediately, you can taste the magnesium as like a...chalky metal taste? It's weird but it doesn't bother me. The lemon-lime doesn't do much above and beyond most lemon-lime powder drinks. But what really messed me up, and made me unable to even finish the bottle, was the sweetener: stevia. Now, here's a science lesson. If you were to drink just standard salt water, in the correct proportions necessary for rehydration...it wouldn't really rehydrate you very well. These things depend on osmotic differentials in order to function correctly. While salt water (well, unsweetened ORS) would have an osmotic differential that would work, it doesn't work effectively unless you add something that's more efficient at crossing the intestinal mucosal barrier. The best thing for that is, unsurprisingly, sugar. It's rapidly taken up by the body and converted into energy and, by coincidence, it brings along the electrolyte ions along with it. Okay, that's roughly how it works, it's more detailed than that and I got a raging kidney infection so it'll have to suffice. So, when you get an ORS, it's generally sweetened with glucose, the most easily and rapidly taken up sugar. It's not sweetened to make it palatable, far from it. If they wanted to rehydrate you efficiently, they'd drop an IV line in you with osmotic balanced saline solution that goes directly into the blood stream. No, the stuff is sweetened to AID in rehydration when an IV is impractical or impossible to do. So sweetening this with stevia actually makes it less effective. And I figured that SaltStick, a brand that I trust, would know that, considering how many of its products actually contain glucose.Overall, this was a disappointment from SaltStick. I like their chewable tablets and their buffered salt tabs (even if they hurt my tum-tum) but this was just not up to the scientific par that I expect from them. Also, the fact that each tube of mix is $1.67 doesn't help their case either. So if you're looking for an ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) mixture...this ain't it, friend. Look elsewhere.

Good taste, very refreshing
Review for: SaltStick DrinkMix, Electrolyte Replacement Drink Mix Powder for Rehydration, Exercise, Hiking & Sports Recovery, 12-ctI am an avid gardener and even on really hot days, I can find a reason to be outside. When I come in completely drenched with sweat, I want something really refreshing to drink. I also want the drink to get me rehydrated so I don’t have leg cramps in the night. This product is a real winner for me. To start with, it tastes great, nice and tart and lots of flavor. It is also very refreshing and of course helps replace the minerals that I need. I have mixed it with both carbonated water from my Soda Stream and with just water. Both are good but I like the carbonated the best. This drink is a good choice when you need to replace fluid.

another great product from SaltStick
I am a huge fan of SaltStick pills, and I use them nearly every time I race or train in hot, humid conditions. I had no idea that this company also made a hydration mix, so naturally, I was excited to try it. Each hydration packet contains more than twice as much sodium (430 mg) compared to one pill (190mg). I have been splitting one hydration pack over 2, 16 oz water bottles, and that has been working well for me. I have also used these for recovery after particularly demanding races. The hydration mix, like the pills, works like a charm and helps me avoid heat exhaustion. I like that now I can either use the pills or the hydration mix. In terms of taste, the lemon-lime flavor tastes sort of like lemon-lime flavored gatorade, but it is not as sweet, and it does not taste as artificial. I really appreciate that, unlike many other hydration mixes and sports drinks, the only ingredient for color is beta-carotene. It mixes quickly in a water bottle after a few shakes or after stirring the mix with water in a glass for about 30 seconds.
