An exceptional pattern with rich history. Made in Germany and of high quality porcelain, Villeroy & Boch technically began production on this particular model in the 1980's however Villeroy & Boch first created the pattern in the 1700's. It is gorgeous. The plates are wonderful and large. The appetizer plates are of appropriate size and the soup bowls are not jumbo, just the right size proportionally for a traditional tablescape. For some reason, they have discontinued the Manoir line. I can't think of why unless they plan to bring it back with an alteration in the future. This is a historic pattern by a historic company dating back 3 centuries. I bought two of these 18-piece sets. They are very durable, very heavy for their size, and I would absolutely recommend others buy them, especially at this price while they can because they were originally $400 for one set of 18 pieces. ## Features - Eighteen Pieces For Six: Six dinner plates at 10.5 in, six salad plates at 8.25 in, and six round rim soup bowls at 9 in holding 10 oz each. The soup bowls carry a wide rim, so the relief border shows all the way around a serving. The eighteen pieces come to 19.2 lb in premium porcelain, lead free, dishwasher and microwave safe. - A Three Course Table: The dinner plates take a main course, the salad plates a first course or a dessert, and the rim soup bowls a clear soup or a chowder.
