By far my favorite throwing weapon. I grew up up throwing knives, axes, spears and more. They can all suck a big one when compared to these. The design is genius in it simplicity and versatile. It can be thrown a number of way and a good long distance. My throwing area maxes out at about fifty and i know i could throw further if it wanted too (and sometimes when not wanting too). Only downside is these things like to bury themselves in the ground. I recommend putting some carpet around your throwing area in case you miss to help prevent it from sinking into the dirt. And keep a shovel handy just in case you have to go poking around looking for it anyways. I also made sure to Mark mine with bright visible colors so that I can find them easier. These are definitely the most deadly throwing weapon I know of short of a hand grenade.

If you get it to stick it sticks, but no matter what it hits, it does big time damage. It’s heavy and doesn’t play nice. If you get it to nicely stick in a dartboard or target then make sure you have backups because it’s gonna demolish. Make sure it’s away from anything that you don’t want broken. I love this thing. It’s cold. Cold steel baby!

I've always been taught to never throw a weapon at an enemy. First, you no longer have a weapon. More importantly, now your attacker potentially does. I believe the more appropriate use for this in a SD scenario is to use it as a bludgeon. That said, to each their own. It is a lot of fun to throw around in the field behind my house. This thing is heavy, the ends are quite sharp. Mine is usually in my truck door side pocket, ready for use. To be honest though, the self defense uses for this when compared to other more effective items.... i.e. guns, sprays, blades, bats, are pretty slim. Don't get me wrong, you could put a lot of hurt on someone with this and it is far better than foul language, I just don't imagine it would be anyone's ' go to' self defense weapon of choice 9 times out of 10.5 stars regardless. This is exactly what I knew it would be when I bought it, and it has a 'cool factor' that supersedes the logistics of actually using it in most scenarios.

There's this version and the mini torpedo. They both feel a little awkward to be used as throwing weapons. This one more so because it is bigger in size. Self defense wise I'm not so sure this would be good to throw at someone, especially if they're looking at you. It might be best used to drop on someone's head or for a booby trap. It has some weight to it. Why did Cold Steel think this would make a good throwing weapon?

This thing is a beast and will destroy targets, it is heavy but it’s supposed to be.

Practice makes perfect but even an over or under rotated toss of one of these "torpedoes" would cause an attention getting injury. With two sharp points that deliver devastating damage to targets plus the bone breaking potential of these weapons hitting targets on their flat sides... really dangerous and super quiet. Buy 2!
