NINESTARS DZT-50-28SL Original Touchless Automatic Motion Sensor Trach Can, 13 Gal SL, Silver Trim

I don't typically write reviews, much less for products I bought over a year ago, but I wanted to give a shoutout to Nine Stars for this one. We searched long and hard to find a nice-looking stainless steel trash can for our kitchen that actually fit in our space. The automatic lid was honestly just a bonus, but boy am I happy to have it.Our countertop extends out beyond the end of the cabinet, so other trashcans we tried would clang loudly against it when they opened. Or they couldn't be put flush against the cabinet because the opening mechanism protruded out from the back.This trashcan was exactly what we needed. Well-designed, sleek, compact, plenty of capacity, and easy enough to clean (and a lower price than most of the competition). I love that the lid opening mechanism is integrated within the lid and doesn't stick out the back, so it can be flush against a wall. The inside bag holder thing is clever too; no ugly bag overhanging the outside of the can, and it never falls in by accident. Shockingly, I'm pretty sure we're on the same batteries as when we bought it last year!Only thing that could maybe be improved: The sensor seemed a little too sensitive at first, so the lid would open when we walk by. Maybe the sensor angle or sensitivity could be adjusted so it only opens when you want it to...but hardly a deal-breaker for us. I'd give it 9 stars if I could.

This is our second ninestar trashcan. The first one was great but we needed a trash can in our finished basement so we moved our old kitchen one down there and bought this one for the kitchen. We’ve had it for 5.5 years and it still works very well. We have recommended ninestar trash cans to our family members and everyone who has gotten one has loved it and said what an upgrade it was from their previous trash can.One major upgrade from the previous ninestar we had is that the new one keeps the lid open as long as it senses you instead of staying open a set time. The old one would automatically close after a few seconds even if you were still there throwing stuff out. The new one senses that you are still there and stays open. This is a game changer because it doesn’t close on you before you are finished which sometimes made a mess.We couldn’t tell by the pictures if the lid is stainless steel as well as the base. It is not. It is made of a gray plastic. I was hoping it was stainless when I bought it but I actually really like the look of it. It looks clean and wipes easily. It’s great size and fits great tucked away in the corner of our kitchen. I wouldn’t want any bigger for a kitchen garbage because it needs to be taken out due to food being thrown away. You don’t want it to sit too long in your kitchen.I noticed in the picture reviews when I bought that many people did not hide the bag when they set up their trashcan. This makes no sense to me when it looks so much better with the bag hidden. I included pictures to show how to hide the bag. There is a plastic ring that goes in between the lid and the base. You just wrap the bag around the ring and stick the edges of the bag in the base. The ring holds the bag in place. Then you put the lid on and you can’t see the bag at all which looks so much classier than showing the bag.Love this trashcan and I will continue to buy ninestar whenever I need to replace this one!

When recently my trusted sensor based trash can (originally bought from Costco years ago) stopped working, I decided to get a new model. There are a few leading brands out there, many of them listed at Amazon. However the more I read about the models the more apparent it became that many models are lacking in one or more aspects. Finally, I came across this NINESTARS DZT-50-28SL model and almost instantly liked its design. Looks modern and sleek. More importantly, the lid is designed in a way that when it opens it does not slam the wall behind it, so you can position it flush with the wall or furniture.Unfortunately, about a month after the purchase the lid stopped opening automatically. My first guess was the batteries were out of charge, but a new set of batteries did not resolve the issue. When you wave your hand above the sensor area the lid does not open anymore. I am forced to press the little silver button next to the sensor, then wave my hand, and only after these steps the lid opens. But only one time. Seconds later, if you need to open the trash can again, you have to go through the same process of pressing a button and waving your hand above the sensor.I read through the manual hoping there was a troubleshooting record that covered the issue but to no avail. I am out of the return period and hate dealing with the return shipment to the manufacturer that will make this pricey trash bin even more expensive. If not for this issue, I would be totally happy with the unit - it fits nicely in our kitchen.======Originally I provided a fairly poor review of the unit since it stopped working shortly after the return period was over. However, I contacted the manufacturer and they provided a tip on how to reset the electronics. It worked! Since then the trash can works flawlessly. I am very happy with it and can certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice stylish trash can that is easy to place in the kitchen, sits flush to a wall or your furniture and operates fast and smoothly.

Muy buen bote de basura. Obviamente no es barato porque pagas por el lujo de que se abra la tapa sola. Hasta ahorita llevamos solo 2 semanas con él y no ha fallado el sensor, esperemos dure buen tiempo por el precio. En tamaño no es muy grande como hubiese querido, pero es un tamaño razonable para cocina. Hasta ahorita todo bien

This trash bin is all that and a bag of chips. The motion sensor works very well and doesn't go off every time you walk by, just when you aim at the sensor.It has a trap ring to hold the garbage bag, so no more fold downs, the top lifts and closes with good pace and the stainless steel case cleans up beautifully.It takes two D batteries which do not come with it, and it really has no manual open feature if you don't have the batteries, so buy a four pack that way you are prepared whenever the first two run out.The price of this unti seemed a little dear to me as a senior on a fixed income, but as soon as I set it up I saw the value. It is a quality item with a nice light lid that makes it easy to change the bag.I love the trap ring that holds the bag in place. I just love it.

This trash can is pretty good. It was functioning well until one day when its lid stopped opening. Something from the assembly broke and I tried to open it, but the screws were all corroded, so I couldn't see what was wrong with it.

I really wanted to love this product, and I did. Until almost the 1 year mark that is. We are about a month out (when it first started) and i was chewing through batteries, and they would simply die within a few hours. Im having to manually open and close the lid; which defeats the purpose. Is it normal these types of cans only last less than a year? Had anyone have posted this I definitely would have continued looking and would have rethought my purchase. Im super bummed and of course almost a year later what do I do? Its impossible to get ahold of this company without jumping through hoops. I might just cut my losses! Buyer beware!!!!

Está muy bonito el pulido del material y luce muy elegante mi hijo está contento con la compra que le hice. Lo recomiendo es muy buen producto y muy bonito.
