DSD TECH SH-A11 Bluetooth USB Eddystone and iBeacon Dongle with Google Proximity Technology

I bought this to hopefully improve my home automation. Prior to this, I was reliant on a geo-fence to trigger routines on the basis that myself and/or my partner were home. Reading into ibeacons it seemed to make more sense to use one of these than GPS, as it has a lower impact on battery life on your phone.I decided that rather than steam ahead and implement the ibeacon into my webhooks/IFTTT routines, I'd test it was a simple boolean ibeacon_count +/- 1. This counted up/down if myself or my wife connected to the beacon (when in proximity to it.)Annoyingly it doesn't work correctly. Sometimes it will acknowledge the disconnect when leaving the house (going outside the range of the beacon) but when returning back in range it hasn't reconnected, thus rendering the device useless.I'm actually sat meters from the device, through hollow stud walling, and it's connecting/disconnecting and I had reservations that it would reach too far from my property!The instructions also advise you can use the IOS app, but the device is never found, so I was forced to use my laptop to configure it.I hoped this would improve accuracy, but its just too unreliable to implement into my system. The saying you buy cheap, you buy twice seems very much the case in this scenario.

It proved impossible to install. Asking for help just referred one back to the instructions which were unclear in the first place. Don't buy it, Amazon, stop selling it it proved to be rubbish
