Smart powerful silent type
The intelligent timer feature is great. Pop in to the bathroom to get something, light on less than a minute, fan doesn't even start. Bath for ages, the fan runs on for ages and clears the room of damp afterwards. No humidistat means no nonsense. On top of all that, it's an extremely quiet and yet powerful air mover. Highly recommended

Excellent extractor fan
The extractor fan is not "silent" but very, very quiet. Very easy to install. Brown cable to permanent Live, Grey to Neutral and Black to switch Live. Suction is very powerful compared with my old one (different make). Screw driver to adjust timing is useless. It was made of plastic and got bent the first time I use it but I have a set of good clock maker's screw drivers so it's not a problem. It comes with a 5 year guarantee. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. I am going to buy another two to replace the existing ones in my house.

Nice, fairly quiet, powerful fan for it's size.
Silent is a bit of an exaggeration; though, the noise is mainly due to the excellent volume of air pulled through! "Intelligent" mode is OK - shortest time, if light is only on for a few seconds, is a bit too long for me. Overall, works well.

Fantastic performance, but you may need to move/extend existing wiring!
First of all, do be aware that for some reason the manufacturer decided to place the cable entry hole at the bottom-left of the unit (most extractor fans for bathrooms have this at the upper/bottom-right), so do anticipate you may need to move or extend the wiring to suit as it won't be an easy switch out for your existing extractor fan. Putting that aside, this extractor fan is absolutely fantastic! The performance is much the same as previous extractor fan (which we found difficult to match), but at half the power consumption and a fraction of the noise (we can't even hear it when the bathroom door is closed), plus this has a backdraft shutter (it's a flimsy piece of clear plastic, but it works) and it doesn't protrude from the wall as much either. We will definitely be looking to replace the extractor fan in the en-suite with the same model.

Certainly lives up to its name
Although obviously not silent this is definitely one of the quieter fans I’ve come across and performance for a 4” fan is excellent. I love the automated variable timer function definitely much better than a fixed timer or unreliable humidistat.

Nice quiet fan
Works very well but one thing to watch is that some models need separate switches whereas others can be connected to a light switch. The SIL100IT has a timer and needs its own switch. I wanted to connect it to the light switch (so it comes on when the light comes on) so I had to exchange it for the standard Silent 100. There was no problem and ABM Electrical were happy to exchange it.

sounds like a combine harvester crashing through bathroom
not silent at all ,sounds like a combine harvester crashing through bathroom.

Near perfect. Would be the ultimate bathroom fan if it had better aerodynamics!
Overall I am very happy with this extractor fan as for this price point(40£) there is nothing that can compete. Let me explain: I bought it to replace a big name brand fan : Vent-Axia silouhette 100T. This Vent-Axia model is their low end I understand so it is very noisy and not durable. Noisy because the motor is not suspended/damped by soft material and not durable because it uses solid-bearing/bushing as opposed to much lower friction ball-bearing. SO definitely the Envirovent(=Soler & Palau) offer much improved fan with ball bearing. You can feel the ultra low friction of the ball-bearing by spinning the fan with you hand. It is quite remarkable. And also by having the motor mounted on silent-block. It indeed it is very quiet. The engineer successfully reduced the noise from the electric motor down to zero (or at least so low that I cannot hear it, so noise way way below any noise sources). The only noise left is the air noise. And it is this last point that make it miss 5 stars: it's not perfect because aerodynamically it's not state-of-the-art. Fan aerodynamics is serious science so I don't blame the engineers for not getting that point perfect, but the fact is that the old Vent-Axia had slightly superior aerodynamics. So I would buy it again ! A better one would cost ~120£ I think
