MitchellSpinning Fishing Reel, Black/Gold

Firstly, this is not the 308 model, it's the 310 model and secondly, it's not the 2000 version, it's the 500 version.This reel is well worth the money, it's a very good reel. I just believe that people have a right to know what they are paying for.

When I started angling over 60 years ago a Mitchell reel was the RR of fishing reels and unaffordable. This reel looks to be of the same good quality and can’t wait for the Spring to give it a good test

I still own the Mitchell 410. That reel was purchased in 1975 and still performs well, but it isn't without some problems that all reels of that era had. This new 308 Pro is a major step forward as you would expect.I used it yesterday to run 4lb Maxima mono line that landed me a 6 and a 4.5 common carp taken on floating crust. The reel was very smooth. It didn't show any tendency for the handle to slip back when the rod was in the rest, causing those irritating line tangles around the spool. Winding in, the reel felt super smooth and when casting, the line fed off the spool very smoothly tool. I managed to get over 100 meters of 4lb line and same for 8lb on the supplied different sized spools.I would thoroughly recommend this reel based on general light to med weight fishing and think that Mitchell still make great reels.

so small for knat fishing. i couldnt believe its sold as a fishing reel and not a knomes ornament. What a load of rubbisg a bit of weed on the line and it wont.wind up. sick its so expensive wont get another reel on the i net ever again

Having used Michell 300 reels back in the 70's I though on returning the the hobby I would try them again. Delivery was quick and included a second spool. I choose well my Mitchell 308 Pro feels as great to use . This is a good reel that is reasonably priced, looks well made and a pleasure to use. I have used it a few times and it always puts a smile on my face, the carbon clutch is remarkably controlable, and line recovery is quick enough to not leaving you cranking away wondering if your target fish will have moved away before you can get bait back out.

It has 2 different spools , look closely at the numbers on the spools. One spool is a little deeper and holds more line and the smaller spool was on it. I have a 35 lbs cloth and it throws nice and far. I would recommend a 5 to 30 lbs cloth or (braided.) You won't over throw your spool capacity. I've caught trout, blue cat 20 lbs, channels, crappie, and bass. Its great for everything if you're experienced in different liter changes.
